We had a hallway done that we chose to re-paper rather than finish the walls for painting because papering was cheaper, and the stupid contractor hired someone from his church who claimed to be able to do it and she papered over all the bumps left after the old paper was removed. It was a miracle she got the seams to line up. When light shines on the wall at just the right angle you will see every imperfection.
