Dark Angels weaknesses:

Poor options for HQ characters (no AP2 at initiative for example)

Poor anti-air units

Overcosted and poor fliers

Overcosted Bikes

Crappy chapter tactics

The Jet packs got cheaper and the limit on DC was removed. No, Eldar is not going to be quaking at the onrushing tide of Blood Angels. The codex is decent, mostly on par with SM. No, as snowlfakes go, BA isn't a super special one. It isn't, however, inferior to SM in nearly every way. So there's that. The codex might not be competitive at top levels, but a competent tactician should have enough peices to have an entertaining game.

Honestly, the emo level on the space vampire players is too damn high. GW is making all kinds of new bitz and bling for your units. People actually seem to be unhappy not to have gotten a BA Santa. I blame Twilight.

That's an interesting idea. Getting a 45pt fast Rhino for free was great, but it didn't mesh well with ASM's MSU advantage in having two Specials. I like this. I think Imma gonna steal it. Throw some bikes in the third FA slot and fill the rest up with elites.

I like what I've seen so far. With Deathstorm being such a deal, I will probably pick up a small force to use as allies. If I like it enough, I might run a Death Comapny list at some point. Of course, I don't already have a pile of Assault Marines laying around. I think that is why so many people are bitter.

Each Death Company Marine get 5 (2base, 1 charge, 1 for Chain/pistol, & 1 for Rage) Strength 5, AP whatever you want (are willing to spend) attacks on the charge. If taken in the formation, they can strike at Initiative 5. They can come in groups as large as 15. They have FNP to help them survive the shooting. Even if something charges them first they still get 3 attacks that can hit a I5. This is what got my attention. Competitive? Probably not, but is sounds scary/fun depending on which side you are on.

To be fair, I play Dark Angels, so all the complaining that the dex is horrible sounds a little flat. It's not like your Assault Marines are inferior to the SM Assault Marines and cost more to field. They can even take 2 Special weapons.

I mean, throw a few Power Swords in that Death Company and just chase your opponents MEQs around the board. That should be fun.

You can take the DC Dread (good) and DC squad (bad) from Deathstorm as troops, as I understand it. I'm not going to guess what a BA Primary Detachment will or should like, but the Baal Strike Force Detatchment will make great Allies for a lot of armies. Any one who needs some in your face units, like IG.

I'm thiking generic HQ with Relic JP & AP2 blade, A squad of Tacs in a fast Rhino, The Deathstorm DC dread and a squad of DC. All with Furious Charge and at least one turn of Initiative boost, although this is the first I've heard of the 1 turn limit.

Edit: Asked a guy on Dakka that has the book in hand (he was posting pics until they toild him to stop) He said that the detachment Initiative bonus is not one turn. They have the Initiative boost the whole game.

you're wrong, for reasons.

GW seems to have decided that BA will be Assaulty and not Jumpy. The arguements back and forth have been amusing, but I understand your frustration. Force org swaps seem to be disappearing all over. Perhaps it was good that the DA codex sucked. It forced me to diversify.

As a side note, with all the army wide buffs, CC scouts can actually hit pretty hard.

This was written before 7th Edition, so there have been some changes to Divination and Psykers in general since the article. Pask's Warlord Trait and Kurov's Aquila both give out PE. Pask to his unit and KA in a bubble. Other than that, Primaris Psykers still have access to Divination, so Prescience is an option, albeit a more difficult one. Honestly though, there are better things to twin link than an Executioner. It only has a 1 in 12 chance of burning of a hull point unless you use sponsons, which you probably shouldn't do unless you can give it PE.
