Yeah, and Machine Gun Marty and the tennis Pro had lots of education experience before they tried to feck up the educations system!

Very few of our politicians across the whole political spectrum are fit for purpose.

I'm not saying he isn't, just saying that no-one else is stepping up to the plate either. They all have had they opportunity and refused (I think health has usually been the last choice for parties under d'Hondt?), and I don't hear any of them saying they want to take the reins after the next Assembly elections.

All the main parties have had the opportunity several times to hold this Ministry, but have chosen other departments instead as they all know Health it's a poisoned chalice politically. You can blame Poots all you want (he's not exactly top of my list of competent Ministers) but the other parties are also failing to address problems with the health service.

Of those who voted only 37% voted Alliance - still not a majority, so the original statement that I responded to is still incorrect. The next Westminster election should be interesting though, and these vile attacks are good vote catchers for Alliance.

The majority of East Belfast voters do not already vote Alliance. 13k out of 60k is not a majority. Enough to get by on a first past the post system though.

What does it take for you to understand, THE ORANGE ORDER DO NOT ORGANISE THESE BONFIRES!

If you want to blame anyone else apart from the people who actually do organise the bonfires, why not have a go at the local politicians and community workers who presumably have some influence in these matters?

"No, sorry, we are talking about money from the public purse,"
We are talking about how a council spends its budget. Someone stated earlier that this would pay for a nurse - I merely pointed out the fact that council budgets do not pay for the health service.

"Are you really going to say the OO can support the ethos behind building the bonfire and then wash their hands of any responsibility thereafter? Surely not."
Surely yes. Because you support the ethos of something does not make it your responsibility!

Has there ever been a case of someone turning up in hospital "coughing their lungs out from passive smoke inhalation" as a result of an 11th night bonfire? Just asking.

And by the way, I have repeatedly said on this thread that these fires SHOULD be properly regulated in line with the laws of the country, by the correct enforcement agencies.

Excellent post.

"So, it's everyone else's fault that they are "unregulated", make a mess and cost the members of normal society money?"

No, it is not everyone else's fault. It is the fault of those who build them with harmful waste and the fault of the proper authorities who turn a blind eye.

"You cannot say that bonefires have "absolutely nothing to do with the OO"."

Erm, I did, and it's true.

"Once again the OO has proven themselves to be inept, incapable and paralysed into inaction, while the areas from which they derive their membership and support are taken over by these carcinogenic heaps of filth, drunkenness and violence."

And once again you are barking up the wrong tree. Just because you think the OO has responsibility does not alter the fact that they absolutely do not.

"I would ship the zero educated wasters who make these nasty mountains of rubbish out to some third world country for 6 months to learn the value of having a decent, clean environment to live in. They could burn whatever they wanted, play whatever music they wanted all day long, as long as the local war-lord approved. Actually they would feel right at home!"

So you think it would be a good idea to burn harmful waste in a third world country? NIMBY!
