Breitbart.com : Canada population growth fastest in G8

The article pointed to the Canadian oil patch... I would say some of that new population are from the USA. I have seen more than a few classified ads here in the states looking for workers to move to Canada to work in the oil and gas industries up there. And we have our fair share of Canadians working here in our own Bakken oil field here in North Dakota where I work. Just saying...

Who says I was speeding in Amish country? You don't have to be going fast to pop over a hill. My point would be that you do need to slow down, as you never know what may be around the next blind curve or hill in Amish land.

Having logged more than a few miles in Amish country, I can see how this happened, especially in the evening. Even during the day these buggies are hard to see, especially when in the hills. Pop over a hill and be ready to hit your brakes. And then you get the idiots that have a "fast horse" run right into to traffic without even looking. I have had more than a few close calls with this bunch.

LMAO!!! That is the most asinine comment I have read all morning! Apple is successful for one reason, they have products that work as advertise that people actually want. And no one is forcing anyone to buy their products. As far as American jobs, look to your government and the messiah, they will surely regulate and tax all of those jobs back home? LMAO!

Tell that to the folks at Gibson Guitar, or the SC residents around the Boeing plant. Well, I live in Michigan, and no sign of recovery here, unemployment up last month in my neck of the woods. My house is surrounded by foreclosures, and is so underwater not even flood insurance will help. It has lost well over 70% of its value and still sinking, I want to sell to leave the state, but cannot without losing my tail end. Keep reading... I found work in the oil fields of North Dakota. Where I am working we have around 1% unemployment, where a gas station cashier can make up to $17 an hour. McDonalds and WalMart are paying up to $15 an hour with bennies. But, here is the kicker, word is is that the federal EPA is working hard behind the scenes to shut the Bakken field down. Imagine that? Might not be a good idea to try to move, Obama awaits me around every corner.

With everything going on this is the crap we get out of congress? We have roughly 20% real unemployment, which is growing by the day. Spending that has reached never before seen heights, and continues unabated. The EPA threatening to shut down coal fired electrical plants, shutting down our oil and gas industries, Gibson Guitar, Fiskar, Solyndra, Fast and Furious, and the list just goes on and on! If the congress wants to do something constructive, start the damn impeachment hearings and hog tie the Marxist and his klan before they do anymore damage!

More class warfare, give away to the rich... Well who the hell employs people, isn't it people with money? You know, the rich sob that buys cars which supports car dealers and their employees, eats out a restaurants that employs cooks, waiters and bar tenders, calls a plumber to fix a leaky faucet instead of doing it himself, hires a landscape company to tend to his lawn, plays golf at the local course that employs 50 people, has a small plane at the local airport that employs all sorts of people, keeps a boat at the marina that employs workers from mechanics to the guy that waxes boats, etc. All of the above businesses need rich people, including the industries that support the above, right down to the guy that sweeps the parking lots. Yeah, those stinking rich people, who needs them.

Breitbart.com : Gov\'t shutdown poses big risks to both parties

From the above story, "deep short-term spending cuts could stifle economic growth and lead the country back into recession." And I'm the Pope. Makes about as much sense as when Pelosi said that for every dollar of unemployment benefits spent we get $1.50 in return. Good old Keyesian economics? Give me a break. I am still trying to figure out what effect shutting down the government will have on me. My taxes are filed, quarterlies sent and business licensing intact. About the only benefit I get from the fed is... Hell, I can't think of anything off the top of my head. All they do is force me to pay them monies that I could better use to do something crazy, like hire a much needed employee. But with the payroll taxes along with unemployment insurance and workman's comp, I can't even afford to pay minimum wage. Going to be a long year.

Breitbart.com : Schools face cliff as education money dries up

Here in MI we received quite a chunk of change from Obama, I believe it is already gone. The problem we have here is not a lack of monies to operate the schools, it is a lack of monies to pay the pensions and health care of the teachers and other state union employees, teachers being the largest benefactors. The state of Michigan is carrying roughly $83 BILLION in unfunded debt to these unions. The school teachers make up roughly $50 BILLION of those payments. We are able to make the interest payments, around $2 Billion a year, along with around 20% of the needed payments to keep the pension fund afloat. And here is the kicker, the state of MI is in the top three of highest paid teachers in the nation. But looking at our state test scores, we are rated around 49th in the nation, or at the very bottom rung of educational testing. And our teachers want more, like they do in all public union states. My daughter in law is a school teacher, and you should have heard her scream when they had to pay a copay of $5 to see a doctor and $10 for prescriptions. They still get 100% free dental coverage and free eyeglasses along with other perks to see other medical professionals that not even the cream of the crop private insurance will cover. And yet they want more... It really is an issue dealing with this bunch, they are vacationing in Florida for ten days and i just sent in my quarterly taxes, my wife and I have not had a vacation in quite a few years.

I don't know if I should laugh or cry? So are we warming or cooling? I remember when Time Magazine ran the cover story about the coming ice age, I think it was back in the 70's during Carter. We all shrugged our shoulders and went skiing. I remember as a kid, snow drifts that covered the peak of our old chicken coop, it was roughly 12 feet high, and the snow would drift right over the building. We could walk right up there and sled to the bottom. Now those were winters.
