Unfortunately, many of the solutions for gasoline and other energy has been knee capped by the Liberals. So if we are going to forget or distort history we'll never get anywhere. President Bush at the beginning of his first term requested ANWR be opened up. If this excellent idea had been followed we would have a hammer to keep OPEC in line. So it would not only have helped the US but our European allies. But the Liberals said ANWR could expand to 12,000 acres out of millions. 12,000 acres is about the same as three large farms in Illinois farmland, OMG! http://www.anwr.org/ Our media has proven just about as big of an enemy as the politicians and their political finger in the pie deals. They've literally blocked many ideas of value because it wasn't on their political screens. What a price we are paying for all this cockeyed nonsense. http://www.politickernj.com/bguhl/22291/doherty-n...

A lot of people really haven't looked at wind power and what it does to the environment. Even Senator Kennedy shut down wind power being developed that would wreck his view. But for real people it is hazardous to wildlife and is about the ugliest thing on the planet in large numbers for what you are getting out of it. This is a strange situation for the Liberals. Wrecking the environment to not use oil. Also their thoughts on big business, the evil monster but siding with T Boone Pickens? A big businessman. It makes life so much easier when you can be pro/con on any issue.....

You are so right. The lack of consideration for various family situation on this board is horrifying. Same with gasoline and sales tax. Who gets hurt the most? Low income because they've got to get to work, eat and purchase products and it is a disproportional part of their expenses compared to higher income families. Some of these increases mentioned on this board would sink some of our families that are scraping by. The green world doesn't think things through like using corn for fuel and what impact it has on everything else.

I guess people have forgotten what happened in the early 80s. Seattle City Light asked people to cut back on energy use never expecting it to happen. Bingo, people did cut back and all of a sudden the company was having shortfalls on income and needed people to crank things back up. They actually started talking about cutting worker's pensions via the newspapers and such if the income didn't increase. The whole thing was a setup. City Light was sure people wouldn't cut back and they could go to the state and ask for a rate increase. They didn't need a rate increase but they wanted one. Can't put those management pay raises through if no increase in income. But no problem, people forget and you'll always have Liberals pushing the panic button without thinking. Make people ride bikes, increase rates, increase gas prices etc. etc. etc.

Yes, nothing like having a bullet proof job and company to work for. Need more money, rate increases that the Liberals love to force on people to make them better. One of the first comments on here, 50% increase in rates will make us better people! No thought, just do us please.... Al Gore is now worth $100,000,000.oo with that same greedy philosophy. He wanted $4.00 pg gas and sure enough he got but it seems way more than a majority of Americans aren't too pleased with the Gorical's ideas. No problem, Gregoire is bankrupting the state anyway so what's a few more bucks out of pocket.

joecool, you ought to drop the cool part because you've got yourself all heated up over your own mistakes. Here's the deal. There was an original vote count and Rossi won. There was a requested recount via the Democrats but they didn't have the money for it so the DNC/Kerry footed the bill. Rossi won the recount and then Gregoire requested another count and she final got a positive count and stated that we (NOT ME) didn't want any more counts so she was the winner. In the end the election supervisor for King County had to resign because of bad ballots and other sloppy work that certainly put Rossi on top. So fair, not so fair. Dino was an exceptional gentleman about it. And as far as moving to a red state. Not needed. Just move out of King County and you'll find a whole bunch of people that don't like Seattle running the whole state. Remember when there was talk of splitting the state in to two parts over this mess? Remember Patty Murray losing 37 counties out of 39 and King County put her over the top. It gets very tiresome having do nothings get into office.

You obviously don't live in Seattle. They love taxes and screwed up the last governor's race to where the person that won the vote twice DIDN'T GET INTO OFFICE. My property taxes went up 12% this year and we have the HIGHEST GAS TAX IN THE NATION. And one day above 90 degrees and some of these people are ready to throw a 50% increase on users. Yep, that is SEATTLE....
