As a word, it has no real meaning. People joke that a "racist" is someone winning an argument with a liberal, and this doesn't seem far from the truth. The idea of "racism" is probably best understood as modern day "sin" within the new faith of multiculturalism. Just as Christian pastors insist that 'we're born sinners," the high priests of multicultural claim "we're born racists." The faith of Multiculturalism has its own temples (liberal arts departments), saints (MLK, Rosa Parks), and demons (white men). About once or twice a month, we have the modern equivalent of a Salem witch trial. But instead of looking for witches, the priests look for "racists."
