You have to have some good batteries to make this work. We need research into developing clean batteries that are cheap, don't use dangerous chemicals, are easy to recharge, highly effecient, last a long time, dont use up exotic metals, can be easily disposed of, etc. It would help if they were also light weight and recharged quickly.

The thought that we could set up an economy where everyone worked for free is an interesting thought exercise. I suspect that once started, some people will work harder than others, be more successful, rise to the top, figure out how to organize others, end up in charge, increase the value of work done by the group, and figure out a way to benefit from this. Everyone will be better off, especially the one in charge. Eventually people will want something in exchange for their labor... I suspect that discussions of "why are we working for free" will start to occur at least as lunch time approaches on the first day. Food will likely be the reward of choice. As things evolve over time I suspect that the reward system will begin to look like money. Would you work for free?

Wouldn't it be nice if someone would just come down out of the sky and take over as a King of the Earth. He would care for each of us, and save us from ourselves. We would be so grateful as to pledge Him our unending loyalty. Whatever work He assigned to us would be so well suited to our desires that it would be only enjoyable.... There would be no more greed... only good....

Hard work is good. You should be rewarded for working hard. but you should realize that school is important, don't spend money that you don't have. And dont be concerned about what you wear. Good comments ... great advice... sounds like stuff you got out of the Bible.

Capitalism seems to have provided a high standard of living. It appears that most people outside of the US are interested in comming over here and participating in it. We should all be a little more generous in sharing with those less fortunate than ourselves...

Recessions are cyclical naturally occuring business events. They rarely last very long unless the government interveens in destructive ways. You will probably be free of this when gou get ready to find a job. You really need to go to college to get a good paying job. My son is in one of the best state schools in the country, working for a professor part time, living at home, taking sandwichess to school every morning. His biggest and almost only expense is a parking pass. Work hard and you will do well.

In this example, if a steel, aluminum, or carbon fiber vehicle weighing 20,000 pounds was hit, by that 12,000 pound truck... All things being equal, the chances if surviving inside the 20,000 pound vehicle will be much greater than in a subcompact weighing say 1500 pounds regardless of the material. The point I'm making is that there is a trade-off between some elements of safety and weight.

Well written. some good points some that I disagree with. ____“Neanderthal” prompted a though. Any person with a million dollars or their own business is regarded as an idiot and/or criminal. But the blog is replete with examples of people who are in charge of their own small businesses____If idiot criminals are elected to political posts, they become beneficent omniscient saviors of bloggers from idiot criminals???____GM destroyed about 500 Billion dollars in value from the face of the Earth, they pale in comparison to the Congress. ____Congress owes 52 trillion in unfunded liabilities. Do the math – is what you owe larger than your house? Social Security dollars are spent (Criminal in corporate America. OK in Government?) Medicare is in worse shape than S.S. I have a concern that the same old Congress will not get smart by Jan 20th.____They are ready to spend your “infrastructure” money on a “Waterfront Duck Pond”, “Dog Park”, “Tennis Center”, “Sports Park”, and billions of other projects already totaling more than 73 BILLION… ____Let’s see you wanted some money to do what?__

The safety thing is the only one that bothers me. When a super-light subcompact car hits a tree it can protect your family as well as any car on the road (in theory). When that same car is hit by a delivery truck weighing 12,000 pounds, the physics is unavoidable.

Its amazing that Congress pays substantial sums of money to farmers with personal incomes above $700,000 per year. Maybe it's not amazing, but more like expected behavior amoung the members of the world's most elite and powerful club. (Congress)
