KCRG : Cedar Rapids Bank Robbed | KCRG-TV9 News, Sports, and Weather Cedar Rapids, Iowa | Local News

I don't understand why the photographs of the robbery suspects are always so bad. With the state and low cost of the technology these days, we should be seeing close-up, full color, HD images. Not grainy, blurry 3rd-grade photos.

Yes, ctiger, I'm just being a bit facetious. I've seen these arguments so many times recently that I felt that Lou Dobbs needed a voice here.

What's wrong with taxing all these deadbeats from Marion, Hiawatha, etc? They're sitting around getting rich on the backs of the rest of us. They are huge drain on our city's economic resources and they attend our schools and hospitals. And while data is not yet available, it's clear that these people are committing a very high percentage of the crime in our neighborhoods. One thing that is also very clear is that these people are taking jobs away from people who live here. If these people just want to work honestly in Cedar Rapids, why don't they just go through the normal channels to achieve real citizenship and move here? I'm not prejudice, I just feel non-residents should not be getting the special treatment that they are today.

KCRG : Two Tons of Wild Marijuana Harvested | KCRG-TV9 Cedar Rapids, Iowa | Local News

I can't believe Floyd county official are really that stupid and ignorant -- both of marijuana and of Iowa history, but the evidence speaks for itself. Of course it tested positive for THC. The marijuana grown here in the 40s was developed to be extremely LOW in THC, not totally devoid of THC.

GazetteOnline.com : Ramblin': Bug your loved one into having a colonoscopy

Interesting. The drug they said they were using on me was midazolam, also known as Versed. I don't know whether I received insufficient dosage or whether this drug is simply ineffective on me - since no one has ever responded to my written complaint.

I was sedated. Or, at least they told me they gave me sedation. I just don't think I was properly sedated.

Turns out, when a physician is unable to complete a colonoscopy, the next stop for the patient is a barium enema - a procedure performed without any sedation and whose messy details I will spare you here. Let me be clear. There is no doubt that colonoscopy screening is clearly a very useful tool for early detection of colon cancer. There is also no doubt that colonoscopy screening save lives. But there is no need for this procedure to ever be performed without adequet sedation. Consequently, while I do intend to undergo this procedure again when it is time to do so, I will not be using the same physician nor will I use St. Luke Surgery Center. I wrote this response because I believe people should know that not everyone has such an easy time with the colonoscopy procedure.

Well, I'm glad your experience was mostly a non-event. I've spoken to several people who had also been through the procedure and they also said, in essence, "no big deal". Unfortunately, my colonoscopy was one of the most painful, humiliating and excruiating experiences of my life. My procedure was performed at the St. Lukes Surgery Center in Cedar Rapids two years ago. Though no one involved with the procedure has ever spoken to me since, I believe I was insufficiently sedated for the procedure. I was given a shot - told that it would sedate me but really never noticed any sedation effect - I never 'went to sleep' - nor did I even become tired or groggy. I did not threaten anyone with lawyers, lawsuits, or demands for compensation. I simply wanted the people involved to understand that it was an unnecessarily painful and humiliating experience. Still, I think I should have received some kind of response.

KCRG : Cedar Rapids Dealership says Goodbye | KCRG-TV9 Cedar Rapids, Iowa | Local News

Health insurance is no small issue here. When a company goes completely out of business, COBRA does not apply and the only option may be individual health insurance plans - the most expensive kind, surpassed only by no insurance at all. Further, if you or anyone in your family has a "pre-existing condition", then you can expect to pay north of $1K/month to cover yourself and your family with any kind of real plan. And regardless of what new plan you find, you'll be starting with an entirely new deductible for the year. The fact that you may have already met your current plan's deductible is irrelevant. So, if you loose your job, you can also double or triple the cost of basic health care. The technical superiority of a nation's healthcare system is also irrelevant if you and your family can not afford to access it.

KCRG : Officer Tim Davis Makes First Public Appearance | KCRG-TV9 Cedar Rapids, Iowa | Local News

I would like to take this opportunity to reduce the destructive process that seems to be carrying our civilization toward extinction. As a preliminary, I want to cast a ray of light on MrX's quarrelsome paroxysms here on this forum. Ancient Greek dramatists discerned a peculiar virtue in being tragic. MrX would do well to realize that they never discerned any virtue in being disreputable. More to the point, there is a clear problem with his use of the phrase, "there are much more worthy causes...". With this phrase, MrX doesn't need to prove his claim that truth is merely a social construct; he merely accepts it as fact. To put it another way, he does not tolerate any view that differs from his own. Rather, MrX discredits and discards those people who contradict him along with the ideas that they represent. Despite that, I harbor no ill-will towards MrX because his snow jobs are nothing more than an odious and self-serving house of mirrors.

Why does MrX pooh-pooh the concerns of others? Anger? Fear? Stupidity? Some deep obtuse urging of his soul? The answer cannot easily be found, but this conviction of mine is as firm as a rock. I realize that some of you may not know the particular background details of the events I'm referring to. Out of common decency, I'm not going to go into those details here, but you can read up on them elsewhere on the Internet. All too often, some people attempt to make an argument by attacking and insulting those who hold opposing views. MrX's rodomontades are a perfect example.
