The founders gave us everything we need to take this country back without a "reset". The elites are nothing more than people who are committed enough to show up, to figure out how candidates are chosen. Get off the couch and dig in at the local level. Because if we are not involved in politics, at every level, and a "reset" occurs, we are going to be on the losing end of that event. In politics, as in war, you have got to have a superb "ground game" or you will lose.

Absolutely, positively, NOT! A little time spent in a history book will illuminate the fearful cost that would accompany such an event. We the people are responsible for this mess. It is up to us to fix it the hard way, one persons opinion (vote) at a time.

Big Government : Texas 'Conservatives' Renew Push for Tax Hike

I am concerned, because I think that you may be wrong about the nature of the average economic refugee that has fled a blue state to come to the wonderful state of Texas. Most of those that I have met, and I am one of them, consider themselves political refugees as well. And, we are surprised by the lack of political awareness exhibited by the many conservatives that now surround us. We are concerned that you, fellow patriot, are not "AverageJoeTexas". We are concerned that the Average Joe Texas is not aware of the situation that we all find ourselves in. My wife thought that her big yellow "Don't Tread on Me" bumper sticker would finally have some company. Alas, not. (She does get fewer 'middle fingers" displayed to her on the freeways though) There is as much work to do in conservative strongholds like Texas, as elsewhere...

Big Government : What Conservatives (and Everybody Else) Could Learn From ‘Cool It’

I do not agree with his premise of global warming. I do think that a viewing of Mr. Lomborg speaking about priorities is VERY instructive and can help us see a framework of discussion that can be used to help us, and our neighbors face the difficult choices that will have to be made as we back away from Big Government. <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dtbn9zBfJSs&feature=r..." target="_blank">www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dtbn9zBfJSs&feature=r....

The "problem" has been hyped by the left so much because they have a set of "solutions" that they would like to see implemented. Many, many people have been convinced that they must do something, anything... I think that this approach has value, in that it helps those that have integrated "global warming" into their own personal catechism to "do something" less extreme than trashing our civilization.

Big Government : The Constitutional Oath

"no legislative act contrary to the Constitution can be valid" - Alexander Hamilton (Federalist #78) It may be time to dust off the "Spirit of 98". Thomas Jefferson introduced the term 'nullification' (state interposition) in 1798. Nullification begins with the self-evident point that a federal law that violates the Constitution is no law at all…AND therefore it is up to the states, the parties to the federal compact to declare it so, and thus refuse to enforce it. Recommended reading: Nullification How to Resist Federal Tyranny in the 21st Century A book by Thomas E. Woods Jr.

Big Government : What the Republican Pledge Needs: A Few More First Principles

To expect "politicians" to "stand for principles" is an oxymoron. If we want them to represent our "interests" (principles), we will have to find ways demonstrate to them that it is in "their" best interest to represent "our" interests. If we are successful in November, our work will have just begun. Gird your loins, this is going to be a long and bitter fight!

If the GOP can be forced to reverse directions on "the road to serfdom", they are going to have to look "petty" a lot. The only way that they will be able to do so is if we run cover for them with our friends and neighbors. We will have to explain to them that "targeted tax cuts" are just another way of saying "government planning or control", "death by a thousand cuts".
