We also needed a space-spy shuttle equip with a hubble like telescope constructed, fitted inside the shuttle to oversee on closeup view of the terrorist movements and whereabouts in Afghanistan and Pakistan border. ~~~Snip~~~ We tried that already. Manned Orbiting Laboratory. The Russian version was better. We lost that race too.

This is so absurd. Why didn't he just say 20 years for even greater drama? How many systems does the AF operate that can even go 5 years between major overhauls? And what kind of archaic electronics will it be using ten years later? Nothing a ground operator will be able to use after all of his upgrades. Even in the 50's nothing was operational for 10 years without many modifications. I think this is just disinformation. Mediocre disinformation at best.

Why would you take a gun from the gun store right out and attempt to shoot a deer with it:? At least clean it and oil it properly first. Oh maybe take it to a range and familiarize yourself with it? Must not be too serious a hunter.

They reminded me of the "safety" smocks the QB's wear in practice sessions. Pretty silly to see the lineman cavorting around in those things. Whoever chose to buy them ought to be put on jockstrap washing detail for the rest of the season. And half of next year too just so they never repeat that mistake.

I bet Andy Sipowicz could interogator and get her to confess. They make you see the herpes on her lip to shock young teen girls into not following her destructive path of making bad choices in your life. The boyfriend should have flipped on her and squealed like a pig/rat to get a himself a lighter sentence. She at one point suggested he killed her roommate. He is sadly mistaken if he thinks she will still be foxy when they hook up again in 25 years.

Yes sir, you are correct. In 1984 Portland traded the rights to Michael Jordan for Chicago's first place pick in 2007 and that's how they got Greg Oden. Good call, I didn't think anyone remembered that trade.

Would you rather go to war in a Buick or an Accura? So are you saying the Defense Approriations bills should be about jobs and putting people in the US back to work? I guess the theory that we put the best possible weapons in the hands of our warfighters is just going to have to be furloughed until everyone who wants a job can get back on their feet and caught up on their car and house payments. So if your in Afganistan waiting for the best hardware we can deliver, sorry about that. It's going to be Oshkosh, Bye Gosh, for a while.

I heard rumors that by Northrop Grumman agreeing to drop out leaving Boeing as the sole source contractor that Boeing will be reaping a fortune in cost overruns and is going to secretly share half of the windfall profits with Northrop. A win/win situation if I ever heard of one.

The bottom line imho is Sam Adams needs to show up for work. He needs to call a closed door meeting with all parties concerned and announce they will come to an agreement that all this insanity has to stop. And the meeting will continue, unadjurned, until that agreement is reached by everyone. This is hardly an example of sustainable living having the police union, police chief, police commissioner are at each others throats over a couple of bad cops. Not to mention the finanacial loss to the city, the ill will it's causing and dividing the city over a needless issue. The mayor asked that he be allowed to do the job he was elected to do. Well Sam, Rome is burning.

My god, how many video's of cops out of control do you have to see to believe it happens? Rodney King? Would you not consider Chasse died from how many boken ribs as a result of too much force in arresting him? Humphrey was trying to get in on the takedown by standing over the girl with a shotgun. Totally unnecessary. He could have as easily shot his partner in the leg. My point is, it was an inapproriate weapon to have. His use of it cannot be determined to be the reason the girl finally relaxed. He wasn't essential in the arrest. Had he defended the other officers from her friends assaulting them it would be a totally different story. If you don't think cops get amped up under these conditions then you are unaware of their reality. I do not think the entire issue is a big deal. The girl was guilty. This was a very ordinary arrest. The kind that happens daily. The shotgun was just stupid for several reasons. But in the end, no big deal. The big deal happened 3 years ago.

Westerman is either an idiot or dishonest if he believes the statements he made. There is no evidence the girl stopped resisting as a result of being shot. She was being subdued by two police officers on top of her putting on cuffs at the same time. She may not even have realized she was shot. He claims elsewhere that Humphreys warned her to stop or else he would shoot. She was scuffling on the ground trying to resist arrest by two other cops. She may have been oblivious to Humphreys circling her trying to get off a shot. She was actually being cuffed on the ground when he decided to shoot. And a fourth officer appeared on scene seconds after she was subdued. I don't think the whole situation looks that bad. But firing the bean bag from a 2 foot range while she was laying on the ground seems rather vindictive at that point. Every cop gets an adrenaline rush under those circumstances. Westerman knows all this. A non incident if it had been any cop besides the two involved with Chasse's death.

DoD Buzz : V-22s In Af-Pak: Faster, Higher, Longer

They say it isn't a helo. Will they still say that after one gets shot down while landing in the helo configuration? And what's up with designing it to the maximum limits with no guns? No room for upgrades? Maybe they can screw on steel plates to the backs of the rotors for firing an unsynchronized gun through the arc of the blades. Worked in WW1. Well, it sort of worked. Why do they build something like this? Or the new F-35B? What have they got against Marine Air? Give them new upgraded Ch-53's and the A-10's the AF doesn't deserve and get out of their way.

DoD Buzz : NG Sale Sparks Industry Changes

Would someone offer an explanation as to why our massive military acquisition departments seem to rely so heavily on our contractors to determine what their needs are, how to define a programs requirements, how to manage the projects? Why is it that our defense industries have been allowed to permeate the whole acquition process so that they seem to determine the entire life cycle of major systems. Has the DoD become completely emasculated and ineffectual? This is an oversimplification but our warfighters should be in the best position to determine requirements. Our DoD acquisition departments who sign the checks should be calling all the shots and not asking industry what to do. I suppose Congress can be blamed too for their political inputs as they seem to think defense production is merely job related for their districts. Why is the DoD so incapable of getting anyrhing accomplished effectively and efficiently? The last time it was able to that I recall is the F-117 program. Credit the AF and Lockheed for that success story. Contrast that to the Boeing program that received $1 billion to build two new spysats that only flew into the shredded sat recycle dumpster behind their production facility.

God forbid the kid sees some nudity in junior high school and grows up to be normal and not be afraid to have sex with his wife because his mother taught him it was a nasty and disgusting thing to do. Half our problems today are caused by over protective parents and adherance to fears taught by bible thumping religious fundamentalists. Go to France or Germany and any family rated picture news magazines have photos of nudity in advertisements and news photos. And when the kids grow up having visited nude beaches in the summer with their parents, they think nothing of it. They could care less. What is sad is they are creating an unnatural desire for their son to explore the purient side of sex.
