I found a MUCH faster way of creating these archives now..instead of converting then converting...i'm right now testing, if this works correctly i'll make a bat file for replacing the package in quickpwn so that people can just jailbreak like normal and not have to worry about all the "difficult" things. I hope this helps all of you out there when i'm done with it. (y'know, so you can quickpwn your iPhone and have it unlocked also!!!) i'll post a download link for it but you can also e-mail me for it as well...just comment back on this if you need.

yellowsn0w rwxr----x
org.iphone-dev.yellowsn-w.plist rw-r--r-- and that works perfectly!!!!!! now i just have to figure out if copying these straight into the gzip archive will work or not.

Any suggestions would be helpful. I'm not so much looking for someone to hand me the answer, as apposed to someone pointing me into the right direction at least. any and all suggestions helping me will be VERY appreciated, and already thus far everything you guys have done thus far is VERY appreciated. Right now i'm mostly trying to help in making it possible to quickpwn the iPhone and unlock it in one swoop. even if it's "beta" i still am trying to help. Thank you so much again for all of your amazingly hard work. have a WONDERFUL day!!

p.s. I was also trying to get inside of the ipsw of the 2.2 firmware but everything i have tried on both mac and windows seems to fail me. every known dmg viewer and editor i have tried fails and doesn't recognize it. what should i use to open and chang things in there? (again, i'm mainly using windows, but have minor access to mac osx). thank you!

After the pwning is complete the phone comes on perfectly accept now I have to go into terminal and type "yellowsn0w -l" and wait about 10 seconds in order for the phone to become unlocked. i will continue playing with this but it is not so easy being that i'm learning all of this on my own. i have looked all over google to figure out how to do these types of things and apparently nobody has posted anything on doing this. Since i am new to these things I don't know what permissions need to be givin to the tar archive in order for this to startup automatically. or if it needs to be givin inside of the archive. Or if i should just change the plist.

First things first, i'm a HUGE fan!!!! and VERY avid user!
secondly, (cuz it bothers me when nobody tells me these things)...I'm using windows Vista Ult 32bit. Using the 3G iPhone with regular 2.2 firmware. (i also have MacOSX 10.4 on PearPC as well though that is very slow on my computer).
Thirdly, the latest release of yellowsn0w works PERFECTLY for me, so now i'm trying to help out.
I went and downloaded your debian file from your site (apt9.yellowsn0w.com/yellowsnow.deb), and extracted it out to the two folders, System and usr. Now, i have successfully been able to install yellowsn0w through quickpwn (through replacing the files inside of the "cydia.tar.gz" so as to "trick" quickpwn into installing these files, but i have come accross a minor snag now.

Ok,, so google has failed me, or I failed on google. I have been trying to modify the .dmg files inside of the 2.2 ipsw. I've grown fairly comfortable inside the firmware on the iPhone, but am having a hard time opening up the .dmgs. I have tried converting, renaming, MacDrive 7.2.4, extracting with Winrar and 7zip. (one of those would have worked on a normal .dmg...obviously these are not). I'm downloading mac live for my external drive in hopes to get it to load on my system. (though i doubt it will work since this system is so old and wouldn't load the non-live versions of mac that i've tried). Any ideas? I'm hoping to incorporate yellowsn0w into this. If I had a freaking mac this would work just fine...but i don't...cuz i'm poor. and my crappy computer isn't good enough to be a hackintosh. Well....if you have any ideas please let me know.

I was able to push the commands in using the terminal in the iPhone USB program (windows). http://www.megaupload.com/?d=HQ16JZQ4 I put it online for you guys. I now have t-mobile. I can't call...but it shows i have tmobile. I can send texts, and from what I heard i guess i can recieve calls too. But no phone calls yet. I Yellowsn0w -q always came back with an error, so I would skip it and turn airplane mode off and on (i waited 10 seconds). well, good luck urbuddy. I can't wait for 1.0. peace.

I've tried step 2 in updates a few times, but didn't understand exactly what they ment. i've tried the following formats for this, but no change.
<string>/usr/bin/yellowsn0w -q</string>
<string>/usr/bin/yellowsn0w-q</string>
<string>/usr/bin/yellowsn0w</string><string>-q</string>
and nothing. Still no service.

Before I reloaded my iPhone with the Provided ipsw i was able to text but not call. then I reloaded and now i can't even copy my contacts over from my sim. *sigh. I have tried every mentioned way to get both of my 3g iPhones workin again, (mentioned here and at yellowsn0w.net and a few other places) and still nothing. i hope to have something stable soon. I'm impressed with the work thus far however. beautiful code.
V1x0r out.

I followed the instructions as given. reloaded with the provided FW and then added the repo into cydia, installed w/my sim installed...reloaded, and voila...it works!! Don't ask me how I did it anymore, i posted up the instructions on how to do it already.
