Boulda Police on Sept. 10 kept messin' with this cowboy and his two buddies. Soo ... it's not a big surprise that the Boulder County region was punished by a 100-year flood on Sept. 11 - 12 when the skies opened and 19 inches of rain fell. - Don't mess with a cowboy, his hoss, and pooch.

Daily Camera.com: : Gun suicides now outpace traffic fatalities in Colorado - Boulder Daily Camera

Police employees have the highest suicide, as well as, murder rate of any profession and most use their police-issue guns. "Suicides can happen in any profession, but they occur 150 percent more frequently in law enforcement compared to the general population. LEOs kill themselves at a rate of 18/100,000 vs. 12/100,000 of the rest of the US." In 2012 there were more than 126 cops (survey excluded non-law enforcement police employees or that rate would be sky high) and almost all of them used their police-issue firearm. With the thousands of M4 Machine guns that the Dept. of Defense and Homeland Security have given to local police departments since 9-11 its only a matter of time until some of those cops turns a fast-shooting gun on women and children ... ummm, actually that has already happened several times. Use Google. The biggest question in this secretive profession that keeps their "dirty little secrets" from the public is how many LEOs that committed suicide were under criminal investigation at the time because after a problem has been defined then a solution is possible. http://www.officer.com/article/10850327/police-su...

Longmont Times-Call : Longmont cops say car break-ins, vandalism cost community more than $500,000 in six months - Longmon

Heck, Longmont police and courts at least prosecute juvies. I caught 2 boys that egged the inside of my car and several other cars. Their parents had to pay me over $1000 for damages. Another time I filed charges against 4 vandals that were 17 yr old. The Boulder County sheriff's Office wouldn't even give me the case number, court date, or the names so I could ask the court for restitution for the damage. The cops' silence was to protect one boy that was the son of a City of Boulder top-level cop. Despicable cops are part of the problem with reining in vandals.

<Believing she might be in danger, police put together an entry team of four officers and knocked on the door of the condo. When they got no response, they forced entry, officials said.> This won't pass the warrantless entry test. Where is the "exigent circumstances" after police waited for over 10 minutes while making plans to knock down the door and use lethal force. Waiting to get out the assault rifles ruins the "emergency action" affirmative defense in the Federal Court case that is sure to follow for Civil Rights violations that resulted in death. DEPRIVATION OF RIGHTS UNDER COLOR OF LAW http://www.justice.gov/crt/about/crm/242fin.php http://www.scotusblog.com/2011/01/argument-previe... My bet is that DC Editor Erika Stutzman thinks this police action is going the same direction as the killing of the Mapleton Trophy Elk on New Years day 2013 - layer after layer of the onion is being peeled off until the truth will come out.

The sad thing about former Sen. Evie Hudak and her minions is that they think they are "on a mission from God" to end citizens rights to defense while cheerleading the militarization of police that now have Iraqi War 25-ton armored tanks (Mine-Resistant Ambush-Protected vehicles (MRAPs)) with machinegun shooting ports and machine gun mounts on the turret ... and thousands of machineguns. http://news.yahoo.com/column-militarization-u-pol... On the other hand, the police might need those things to keep us indentured servants and low-information voters from ever leaving the Democratic Plantation.

Police can enter a home without a warrant under “exigent circumstances” where there is a reasonable belief that there is an IMMEDIATE need to protect their lives or the lives of others. The legal trigger for warrantless forced-entry is if someone inside a locked door is screaming "Help, help!!" Seems the only ones doing violence were the cops. Google "cop illegal forced entry" and you will find too many similar cases that resulted in criminal punishment for 4th Amendment violations.

< It (quarantine) may remain in place for several years until officials determine the area is clear of infestation, Mitch Yergert, director of the Colorado Department of Agriculture's plant industry division said.> REALLY! Ummm ... NO areas in the US that have become infested by the emerald ash borer has been "cleared of infestation" ... which is why Boulder is attempting an unrealistic control program.
The South St. Vrain and North St. Vrain Canyons are geological box canyons. FACT: This flood showed us that you can't tame the canyons' streams with bridges and road-cuts ... nothing wrong with that.
Longmont Times-Call : Eastern Boulder County lawmakers named to special flood recovery panel - Longmont Times-Call

<The committee also is being directed to address future flood responses, prevention and mitigation across the state.> Free advice: 1) Redesign bridges so they will not trap floating debris ("debris dams") that is mainly the cause of washed out bridges, culverts, and bridge approaches. https://www.google.com/#q=bridge+design+to+preven... 2) 100-yr floods are soo powerful that they will cut new channels so the FEMA Floodplain Maps don't guarantee safety in old floodplains (examples are St. Vrain River from Hwy 36/66 bridge in eastern Lyons to Longmont where flood channels moved 1/2 mile south). 3) The "old" St. Vrain River channel is a "channelized section" and was moved to that location in the 1880s. The river naturally would meander and the main point is that when a debris dam raises water levels behind it then a new channel will be blown out at the new low point. 4) There is no such thing as "flood prevention" during 13-inch rain runoff events.

Daily Camera.com: : Boulder cyclist killed when hit by car Tuesday night in Fort Collins - Boulder Daily Camera

Motorcycles get hit most often from the front too. Smart bicycle and motorcycle riders use strobe-flashing headlights and taillights during daylight to significantly whittle down the risk of someone driving a car hitting them while turning or passing. I think ~$35 for a strobe-flashing bicycle headlight and tail light set is a healthy decision on busy highways. 1) I like the $38 Planet Bike brand strobe-flash headlight/taillight set that has long battery life (eneloop 2 x AA rechargeable batteries last longest and recharge 1500 times which makes the eneloop batteries sold on ebay a bargain); and 2) horizontal strobe flash head/tail light sets are best for high visibility, but a single strobe flash is second choice for being seen. If you want a headlight as powerful as a motorcycle headlight for riding at night then you will want a different type of bicycle headlight. Bicycles and motrocycles are hard to see.

Longmont Times-Call : Longmont may raise drainage, parks fees to rebuild from flood - Longmont Times-Call

Good time to consider the pros and cons of using gravel instead of concrete for parts of the paths because concrete pads create turbulence and will again and again get undermined and require extreme repair costs, as well as, causing more stream bank erosion. There will be another big flood so don't fight with nature ... work with the drainage system. The Big Thompson River canyon had extensive damage from 100 yr floods in 1888, 1976, and 2013. Time to wise up and rebuild so that the next wash outs don't cost so much to repair - instead of permanent structures that may be blown out again in only 37 years (Big Thompson records). Hold some public comment meetings because there are some very experienced floodplain managers in the Boulder County area that know how to soften the impacts from floods. Debris dams at bridges are a major problem. Also, the fishery habitat is poor ... needs excavator to dig some deeper pool areas to create spawning and winter holdover habitat that will increase the sport fish population (the pools will fill after some floods but only require an hour to create).

<"The car got boxed in and that's when I saw an officer of some kind draw his weapon and fire shots into the car."> What we have here has risen to the level of the East Germany Stasi secret police's tactics - plugging people that were trying to escape by climbing the Berlin Wall. America has a standing shoot-to-kill policy at the Federal, State, and local levels. The Marine Vet with the pellet gun in a Boulder Open Space on Monday was VERY lucky not to have been machine-gunned. <The written order, issued to Stasi secret service agents, states: “Don’t hesitate to use your weapon even when border breaches happen with women and children, which traitors have often exploited in the past.” The existence of a shoot-to-kill policy has long been assumed, given that more than 1,100 people were killed trying to flee East Germany.> http://www.foxnews.com/story/2007/08/12/east-germ...

Sending the jackbooted BoCo SWAT team with their M-4 Machine guns is a good way to inflame a situation ... or maybe be drawn into a trap. Make sure the SWAT team doesn't forget to take their $240,000 Armored Tank. <The $240,000 Lenco Bearcat can withstand gunfire up to .50 BMG caliber or mount a .50 machine gun of their own and can protect occupants from explosive blasts or objects thrown at the vehicle, such as bottles or bricks, according to the sheriff’s office.> Okay, but the Million Dollar question is can the Bearcat withstand a transient throwing his smelly blanket at it? http://www.dailycamera.com/ci_20856056/boulder-co...
