Just like schools, and roads, and parks, and highways.

Our schools, where we pay per-pupil at the top of the world, but have our schoolchildren lose to foreigners in every competition (except, maybe, in how to put on a condom). Or highways, where an average American spends a week per year sitting in traffic. Sure, the government healthcare will be just as splendid!

One suicidal person's life may, indeed, be less important, than hours wasted by the TENS OF THOUSANDS drivers (as well as their passengers and people waiting for their cargo). Police ought to adjust their methods -- and, maybe, even let'em jump in certain cases. Just rename it "end of life counseling" and be done with it...

Actually, if Obama's "greens" had any decency, they would've been the first to argue for taxing daily newspapers out of existence -- the amount of trees cut to produce the rags, is obscene. If we are going to demand electronic record-keeping from the doctors (to make their services 1.1% cheaper), why shouldn't we encourage full migration to Internet-based news-delivery? The answer, of course, is that Obama OWES these people -- they helped get him elected... Expect a newspaper bailout. It is the least he can do.

= Biological functionality does not automatically equal parental competence. It is a very dangerous thing to declare, that Government is more competent in child-rearing, than the parents. No -- only in certain cases, and only after the Government has proven in court, that a particular child is neglected, can they force him out of parents' care. My point was entirely different. Since the Government has a legitimate interest in welfare of the children, it MAY be reasonable for it to offer special recognition to couples rearing their (natural born or adopted) children -- regardless of whether these couples are "married" or not.
