I got to know Julian Lewis a little during Ian Duncan Smith's leadership campaign in 2001. He was ruthless, but extremely effective at whipping votes for IDS. It does not surprise me one bit that he had a back stairs operation going on. The party should get off it's high horse and restore the whip to Mr Lewis as soon as possible. I wish him every success as chairman of the Security and Intelligence Committee.

Amber Rudd should be invited to spend more time in her Hastings and Rye constituency. Her majority of 346 requires far more attention than occupying any cabinet position. I have never been sure that Amber Rudd is actually a conservative.

An incredibly sad and desperate time for our country, our government and our party. To even contemplate a second referendum is an affront to democracy and, as Andrew Percy MP eloquently pointed out on television last night, nothing more than a losers vote.

Normally I have little time for broadcasting bias arguments, but this interview really was a disgrace. Marr illustrated the utter disdain felt by the BBC, and their metropolitan elite fellow travellers, towards those supporting the sort of Brexit articulated by Nigel Farage. I am not a member or registered supporter of the Brexit Party.

Spot on Stephen. Absolutely correct. Fancy running for Conservative Party Chairman? Plenty of members across the country would agree with your points. Oh, I forgot, our party doesn't elect its own Chairman. That's something that has to change pretty damn soon.

You are right, Mark. This is a terrible deal, but we are backed into an impossible situation. With zero enthusiasm and holding our collective noses, the PMs deal ( or some form of it) must get over the line.

Sorry to say that, watching the the whole interview, Philip Hammond cut a pathetic figure this morning. He believes that we have drawn a line under the betrayal of four of his cabinet colleagues abstaining on a three line whip last week. Dream on, Philip. These four individuals should have been sacked on the spot. The fact that they are still in their posts is disgraceful. How much longer must the cabinet suffer their presence?

This is turning into a West End farce. Careerism over country. What a pity that Dominic Raab, a minister with genuine abilities, has allowed himself to be used as a patsy in this way.

Michael Gove reeking with the stench of sell-out and betrayal on Marr this morning. That pitiful interview was more about his own career prospects than honouring the decision of 17.4 million people to leave the EU. To continue to take rules from Brussels and tolerate any role from the ECJ is not leaving. I say to the so called Brexiteer cabinet ministers, there are a few shivers around looking for spines to run up. Where are your principles now?
