Wow. Chilling. Can't approve of vigilantism but there is something to be said for that remote Bolivian village's attitude towards their female versus Elwood, Indiana's.

That's just weird. I was thinking about the "It Gets Better" campaign just yesterday after reading yet another "slut-shaming" story and a 'revenge of the nerds" puff piece about Snowden.

My teen years were total crap...and I went through a "phase" that lasted through my mid-20s. Let's just say, I am eternally grateful it was the 80s - pre-cell phone and internet AND that abortion was not yet the political football it is now. (Still easy and affordable)

I survived and managed to somehow fake a normal suburban life and family - but that's about all the encouragement I can muster for this next generation of girls. But then again, this story sort of sucked out my will to live.

Rahr, rahr - grrrl power.... or something like that....

Wow. Can CNN do that? I know I shouldn't be surprised but I just can't handle how crappy they've become. That is a new low given that this is Hillary goddamn Clinton we're talking about here. CNN...

And speaking of a dead media brand, who else misses Spy Magazine? And does Wonkette share some common DNA with Spy? You know...just wondering.

What. The. Hell...

I'll reserve playing armchair civil engineer for a little while but this does sound like quite a disaster, in many ways.

Dear God, they're pathetic. And the people who voted for them.

But for the children, here we go. Let's go help them out...like we always do... (Grumble, grumble, grumble...)

Or homeschooling. I have to admit, my lizard brain sometimes likes that idea anytime there's a tragedy at a school. Their plan to make public schools suck as much as possible is having an impact.

The day of the Newtown shootings, I had a Republican Mormon mom on Facebook going on about the perks of homeschooling and not having to worry about your kid getting gunned down while at school. It was awkward.

Thank you! I've been choking on a construction standards rant all night!

I live in Georgia and have a kiddo in elementary school. We had a tornado warning during school hours about a month after Sandy Hook. They moved all the kids (about 800+) to inner room away from the windows. I was a God damned wreck for about two hours. Now I know my fears were founded. Our glass and brick school wouldn't stand a chance against a direct hit. I just gotta wonder how the standards are determined against the risks.

Also wonder when the school was built. If it was after the '99 tornado outbreak, heads need to roll.

I've had some pretty nasty tirades and debates in my head - since I heard the news.

Climate change aside, part of my brain is so damned sick of these Red States and their whining and lax regulation. (I live in a God-forsaken Red State, BTW) But the other side looks at the photos of these precious little babies being pulled from the school wreckage, and I want to do anything in my power to help the people of Oklahoma.

I can be a bit of a lead foot and have had a few speeding tickets. But I have never fought with a cop, fought a ticket in court, I always pay my fines, and freely own my guilt.

People who cry about getting a ticket piss me off, people who lie to get off piss me off even more.

I agree. And patina is an excellent way to describe it.

Personally, I think it's his genes and his lifestyle/attitude and the fact the guy has always been somehow old beyond his years. Or perhaps, a time-traveler.

Damn, David Bowie is so effing cool.
