A Tangled Web : GRIDLOCK!

"The Stock Market Rises 30% every time the Fed is majorly locked. GOD BLESS THE AMERICAN VOTER." So the next time there is a conservative Republican president you will be urging voters to support Democrats in the mid terms?

A Tangled Web : A Question for Pinera

As Andrew says it was Thomas Cochrane. Cochrane is one of the most extraordinary figures of last 200 years his careers as an admiral in the Royal Navy, as a radical politician, an inventor, the commander of the navies of Chile, Brazil & Greece during the wars of independence, his conviction for fraud and subsequent escape. If he were fictional people would say his exploits were a little bit unrealistic.

The Republicans will win big without a doubt. While there have been landslide wins plenty of times before in US politics I don't know if one party has ever had a landslide defeat just two years after a landslide defeat.

Whilst the "Gallileo Was Wrong" site is persuasive, they seem a little bit too committed to the notion of a round Earth.

A Tangled Web : PROPERTY RIGHTS...

"Government has NO business meddling in the property market " If he simply ends the government's existing interference in the property market (by restricting building) then prices will be guaranteed to full. Prices are artificially high so it wouldn't need extra interference to cause them to fall.

A Tangled Web : THE DEATH PENALTY

Paul, as Phantom says Baltic states have higher murder rates than the US (well 2 of them do and the third is about level). I'd guess alcohol is the cause of that.

A Tangled Web : THE DEATH PENALTY

"more people are murdered per head of population in States such as California and Texas than they are in New York" So? More people were murdered per capita in the South than the North even when both had the death penalty. "A comparison of the US to other countries, such as Canada, and countries inside the European Union, show that again more people are murdered per head of population in the areas with the Death Penalty. " If you cherry pick the countries and assume that all the differences are down to which ever topic you are discussing then you can show anything. Comparisons between Japan, which has the death penalty, and Europe show that more people are murdered in Europe. Several EU countries have higher murder rates than the US. "Also the studies your article links to are considered by many to be flawed. " There is no such thing as a flawless study. Anyway after claiming that studies have shown the death penalty doesn't work you are linking to an article that asserts that studies can't really determine any relationship because the number of cases is too small.

"Almost every study has shown that the Death Penalty is not a deterant" That simply isn't the case.
