PLAYERESSENCE : Code Name: S.T.E.A.M. Abraham Lincoln Trailer

I approve of Nintendo's dedication to total historical accuracy! I mean is anybody honestly going to tell me that Abraham Lincoln didn't pilot a giant steam powered mecha of himself? There is no evidence that he didn't! Ergo, total historical accuracy!

PLAYERESSENCE : Sony has Abandoned The Last Guardian Trademak

I suppose there is some joke here but it eludes me at the moment. Well I guess the only good/bad (whatever floats your boat) thing about this is that people can finally give up on the false hope that the Last Gaurdian will show up next E3. I was always amazed how much blind faith people had that this game would be released much less be decent after years of vague promises from Sony.

PLAYERESSENCE : New Nintendo 3DS XL System Transfer

I'm not sure how it works on the New Nintendo 3DS but in the older 3DS models the preinstalled games do transfer from system to system. The games themselves on the older models were rarely preinstalled as much as the special 3DS came with a code that gave you the digital version of a game.

PLAYERESSENCE : Club Nintendo to be Discontinued, New Rewards System Coming

Especially if Nintendo is going to go with accounts with their future systems something like that would be very convenient. However it would be cool if the new rewards program includes physical as well. I wonder if physical rewards will not be included in whatever the new rewards program will be, which if it happens is a shame. Sometimes I wish Nintendo would make a straight online store that is global where one could buy Nintendo swag beyond just the games and hardware. I would like to get posters and other cool things from Nintendo. I really liked Digital Deluxe since I noticed I bought often for the sake of buying Virtual Console games just so I could get that extra bonus. It was a powerful incentive to get as much stuff as possible.

I suppose this isn't a surprise since we've seen signs of Club Nintendo declining like the rewards being not so great in recent years. The program while cool seems to no longer be worth it in its current form not to mention that not as many people are buying Nintendo products at the moment. I hope whatever the replacement is for Club Nintendo, will be more geographically accessible than what Club Nintendo was. I mean Scandinavia had Club Nintendo but it was discontinued a long, long time ago since it proved not to be really worth it. As a result I've never had the benefit of a Club Nintendo which bums me out. Is the new rewards program going to be digital I wonder? Something like the (now also defunct) Nintendo Network Premium, maybe?

PLAYERESSENCE : WTF Nintendo!?! Seriously? - Angry Rant

Oh, I remember content claim armageddon! It caused quite a mess. People leaving Youtube for Twitch, cats and dogs living together, mass hysteria! The only thing I can't remember is when it took place. Was it in late 2013 or early 2014? It is funny how I can remember the details of the event but not the date. I do remember that Amazon bought Twitch in mid 2014 which happened after the content claim nightmare since one of the rumors was that Google would buy Twitch and people were scared that they would muck it up like Youtube. So that would make the content claim armageddon take place in 2013?

Only slightly related but I did manage to snag a pre order of the Majora's Mask special edition NN3DS! And that thing was almost preordered out even from where I'm from, at least every online store I checked. So...proof that it is going to fail? That is how Nintendoomed works right? Nintendo makes a profit and they are going to die the next day, it's like poison or something for them...

No arguments from me. I have no idea why so many things that worked well before just don't work anymore on Youtube. It is incredibly vexing. Strangely enough I don't mind AJ reaction as much. I kind of get it since he was having fun with the system and suddenly being flagged by some nonsense is probably annoying as hell. I mean I briefly checked his Twitch and he was definitely having a blast with MK8. Call me crazy or sentimental but I absolutely enjoy seeing people having fun with their consoles!

PLAYERESSENCE : Downfall of Gaming Journalism #8: The Perils of a Press Pass - The Rageaholic

The thing I was trying to articulate in my post above was the notion that we have the problem backwards. The problem isn't the lack of "objective" journalism but the audience inability to accept said fair reporting. If we are to have fair (whatever that means) and even reporting then the audience should accept that said reports are going to make statements they will not agree with! Unless the audience is willing to accept reports on viewpoints that does not reflect their own then what is point of being "objective"!

But to give a TL;DR answer on what a hatedom is then a hatedom of AmazingAtheist for example is group dedicated towards hating AA. That hate is the only thing that binds that particular community together. Don't get me wrong regular fandoms can be just as hateful but usually those fandoms are not initially defined by their hate even though they might become so later on.

I'm curious how you understand the word hatedom? When I speak of hatedom I mean people wholly defined by their hate rather than things they profess to love. It is one thing to get angry at somebody for talking bad at something you like, and quite another to hate on a thing not because they are in opposition of the thing you like but because you absolutely and completely hate it. The internet unfortunately made it possible to build communities on nothing else but obsessively be angry at specific subjects or targets. Trust me that obsession isn't healthy since it inevitably warps the worldview of people mired in it.

Don't I know it. I think that is the best way to deal with Youtubers. If they are having fun while doing or talking about something then they are worth a watch, however if all they are doing is obsessively hating on a singular (or multiple) subjects then unsubscribe fast! Hell, that is advice that applies to the internet in general! One of the most disgusting things the internet has ever produced are the various hatedoms!

PLAYERESSENCE : Downfall of Gaming Journalism #8: The Perils of a Press Pass - The Rageaholic

I recently had an epiphany regarding all the hysteria surrounding gaming journalism, a disproportionate amount of it is directed at the journalists yet they aren't the root cause of the issues as much as they are just the messengers. The problem has always been the huge corporations and their shady tactics. I had some vague fantasy that if journalist en masse discussed all the shady bullshit then people would stop buying into the nonsense but now I'm convinced that even if they did it would not change the corporations or the consumers. What I've noticed that people don't look for "objective" information as much as they look for information that already confirms their biases. If people want to think that something is good they will listen to information that confirms it and ignore or get angry at information that says the opposite! Hell, the whole demand for "objectivity" is laughable when it is abundantly clear that what people mean with objectivity is their own viewpoint. Unfortunately everybody operates under the mistaken assumption that their viewpoint is truly objective. Way too many people are so commited to into AAA nonsense that even if people did call them out that would not work as long as they are popular. This brings me to the Youtubers, yes they are definitely vulnerable to the corporate thrall even more so than big websites and their content creators, but even if they succumb to the bribes you have to remember that the Youtubers aren't a homogeneous bunch. As much as the AAA corporations can pressure individual Youtubers into becoming mouthpieces they can't hope to do it to all content creators. Besides who honestly follows Youtubers for "objective" viewpoints anyway? Youtubers even and especially if you disagree with them have the advantage of being just people with opinions on things rather than grand arbiters of truth. Not to mention as far as I've noticed people follow Youtubers that they agree with and usually unsubscribe people who they don't agree with. This means that the target audience of the individual Youtubers are more than likely already going to agree with the Youtubers opinion even if they were some questionable things behind it. As a result the Youtube audience are going to watch only content that they already agree with or don't have strong opinions on. In the larger scheme of things Youtubers because there are so many have no influence beyond their relatively small(or big) circles but neither can they make matters worse beyond their own audience.
