So, Atheism is the dominant intellectual mood of the best thinkers. 2. Conservatism is not like other philosophical positions; that is, it is not a series of deductions based on a set premises that are taken as a given. Rather, it is a set of principles that "hang together". Because it is not like the former, the strictly analytical mind cannot accept it. There is something a tad bit irrational about conservatism in this sense which, paradoxically, some have argued is part of its sanity, its efficacy. 3. Modern Statists, Marxists, Progressives all suffer from the same tragic miscalculation; they attempt to fit human nature into their elaborate intellectual framework, as if plotting a geometrical figure, forgetting that humanity is wild and fierce and free...
