Not one person enrolled? That is indeed a major fuck up. And health care was his career area before he got hooked on politics. I'm gonna google that because there has to be a story behind such a complete debacle.

Even Jefferson Davis recognized that. Lincoln he could work with, and occasionally did, which is one of those goofy facts that pop up when real history rolls. He very much feared Andrew Johnson's accession to the Presidency if the South were to lose the war. Johnson, a border state hard liner, took no prisoners. So by killing Lincoln, the South got exactly the post-war assholery they deserved.
