Just because the behavior is more commonplace than it used to be doesn't mean it's okay or that we should just blow it off. Every last one of the idiots needs to be jailed, license revoked and car sold by the police.

Youthful stupidity, typical teenage feelings of invincibility, coupled with an older guy that probably told them it was safe, all created this tragedy. The young lady's loss is unimaginable to me as a father.

The soldier's punishment is a tough one for me too. He helped snuff out a young life albiet unintentionally. He's facing 82 years. Why is it that if he were to do something stupid that took a life while driving he'd only be facing 3-7 years? Something's wrong.

You may call it discriminatory but State law does not. Washington State defines marriage as between one man and one woman. The gays indeed are actively trying to change that definition so I guess that means you have no idea what the heck you're talking about.

Everything is constitutional until a court rules otherwise. In Washington, that ruling was made in the last couple of years.

Police/ fire are always the last to get cut. Politicians appreciate the service they provide as well as the political implications of cutting those departments.

I agree on the fire comment as well. I've worked with fire departments for many years. While some departments are incredibly busy with aid calls there are actually very few real structure fires anymore due to enforcement of building and fire codes. False alarms and aid usually make up 85-95% of the calls for service and the remaining calls are usually small fires like kitchen cooking.

Yes, any dog can bite but it seems that when pits get the notion to bite, the damage ends up to be far more severe than other breeds.
