It's on the opposite coast; they are both famous for their oppulence, but in two entirely different ways; and Califonia has cows. I'm thinking California, but I still think Jersey is a possibility. Maybe the puzzle is 'something so close yet so far away' and Jersey's definitely close, but the culture, the landscape is completely different from New York City.
