The smallest food production facility is simply referred to as any farm, orchard, vineyard, aquaculture facility or animal containment center. How many acres makes a farm 1,10, 100.... How many animals make you a containment facility 4 chickens in a coop, more, less. There is an equal amount of ambiguity when it comes to food preparation facilities. Under this bill,as I read it, if you made zucchini bread for your church's after service coffee, your home kitchen may need a registration number. If someone gets sick from your dessert you could face up to 5yrs in Federal prison and a $1M fine. All violations need to be appealed to the FSA Czar within 3 days or the ruling he makes is final. No Judicial Appeal. Now I last read this bill when it was in committee (via Thomas) so they may have cleaned it up a bit.
