To be totally honest, I dont see too many people out there intentionally running the lights when they know they are red. Alot of people DO however accelerate when they see the light turn yellow. I am not innocent of this myself. I dont find it necessary to slam on my brakes so that the guy behind me rear ends me. Also, if we are going to enforce this, then the cops should be charged with the same fines we are for doing the same thing. They too like to accelerate when they see the light changing. I dont really find it useful for the 380 span either. I dont really see it helping with the accidents when the people who usually cause them arent really familiar with the road and the cameras really arent going to cause them to slow down. I see cameras all over and I dont slow down, why would they? If you are walking, you need to pay attention to the drivers. And if you are driving you need to pay attention to the pedestrians. There are too many times when I am driving that I notice pedestrians automatically think they can walk out in front of you, no matter what. Well listen, that is why they have signals for you too. Dont get me wrong, its not only the pedestrians faults, but many times the drivers faults as well. I notice too many times cars dont pay attention to the people in the crosswalk and think its their turn to go. Well its not! And this whole crosswalk thing downtown over by the US Cellular Center.....GET RID OF IT!!! People cant get it through their heads that when the yellow lights are flashing, it means stop for the pedestrians. You might as well place a stoplight there so the cars will STOP, not look both ways and determine whether or not they can beat the pedestrian.
