The Groupon ad was in bad taste but not really offensive. Just kind of stupid and strange.

I'm afraid I didn't see the anti-gay slant in the Doritos ad.

Living Social comes dangerously close to being offensive, mostly because it uses so many stereotypes. I didn't see a transition occurring, just gay male serotypes and then the "shock" of the cross-dresser. Mostly, any message they were trying to impart will be lost among the distractions of their choice of visual.

Bieber and Ozzy was just stupid. I don't even remember who they were hawking just that they were making fun of the whole 3G/4G debate, which while appropriate, is lost on most. (I work in for an market analysis firm who studies, among others, the cellular industry, so I got the joke just found it crudely done.)

Unfortunately, I am at work and can't watch the O'Reilly interview. I will when I get home.

Maybe it's having been raised in Houston, but I, too, have long thought we need to get off this rock to survive as a species. I was watching the live feed of the Challenger. It was a horrible feeling to know instantly that something was very, very wrong.

Years later, I was awakened early on a Saturday morning by an enormous sonic boom that rattled the windows. When my girls and I got to our early morning cookie booth, we learned that the noise was the Colombia breaking up over Texas.

No matter what, we must continue the space program. We've gained enormously from it and someday it may literally save our lives.

There are trans pastors. Malcolm Himschoot, ordained by the UCC, is one. Here is his prayer for TDOR

Amen. Once upon a time, real politicians with real backbone and integrity emerged from Texas. What Texas, and the nation, needs now is another Barbara Jordan.

You might as well stop watching now. She's going to win.

As always, Choi gets right to the point, cuts through the bullshit, and makes the other side look stupid.

This guy is nuts. The entire meme that Islam is a cult is just another Right Wing talking point designed to stir up fear and make prejudice seem reasonable.

And ha! I got the Intesne Debate thing to work on the first try. Seems that I had never confirmed by email. Go figure.

Amen, sister! It's patently ridiculous that we allow this to continue to happen. You are so right to say that segregation would still be in place if we'd put it up to a vote. Civil Rights legislation is needed precisely because the majority discriminates. These are things that ultimately must be forced onto the public consciousness by federal law. It had to be done with the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and something similar needs to be done for LGBTs now. Waiting for the states to handle it on didn't work for racial discrimination and it won't work in this instance either.

Have fun at your reunion. They're not my thing but I know a lot of people enjoy them.

Have you seen the latest from the Texas gubernatorial race? Hank Gilbert has made a statement on LGBT rights that is pretty impressive for a Dem in Texas. Check it out:

I have a rather lengthy post that was a day late about the importance of the space program. I agree wholeheartedly that as a species we need to move off the mudball and establish a foothold off world. Long ago and far away I had hopes that I might see it happen in my lifetime. Doesn't look like it will happen that quickly, but it WILL happen or we will go the way of the dinosaurs.
