One Bronco Nation Under God (OBNUG) : An open letter to the Poinsettia Bowl

Is this game expected to be a sell out? I mean, 7,500 tickets per school? I'm no genius, but doesn't that leave a whopping 55,000 tickets for casual "SanDiegan" football fans?

One Bronco Nation Under God (OBNUG) : Take luck: Boise State's BCS bid not over yet

When will we know if fans and the team are gathering at Taco Bell Arena? If Fox cameras come, that is a good sign that there's still a reasonable chance.

One Bronco Nation Under God (OBNUG) : "H" no: Ball State passes, frees Broncos for Poinsettia

As fans I wish we'd start acting like we expect a shot at a BCS Bowl instead of settling for the Poinsettia. Maybe if the University acted like we expected it, we'd get taken a little more seriously. Instead, we have Ohio State acting as if its their right to go and us getting excited for other bowls. SOMEONE get me a microphone and a radio station!

One Bronco Nation Under God (OBNUG) : Let's go fill-in-the-blank! OBNUG's cheering guide

National Championship: SEC vs Big 12 (doesn't matter who) Rose Bowl: Penn State vs USC Fiesta Bowl: Oklahoma/Texas/Texas Tech vs. Ohio State/Utah/Boise State Sugar Bowl: SEC vs. Ohio State/Utah/Boise State Orange Bowl: ACC vs. Big East Because the Orange Bowl gets the last picks, they will be stuck with the ACC & Big East Champs... which is what they normally take anyway. The Sugar Bowl will select the loser of the SEC title game and will take an attractive at large team (most likely not the Big East champion)... looks like the attractive at large teams remaining will be BSU, Utah or Ohio State but more could arise.

I ran a Bronco blog with this kind of "who to root for" stuff on it last season. It takes a long time to think it all up and write it out in a presentable format. I don't agree with several of this Stephen's ideas, but I commend his effort.

"* No. 17 BYU (9-1, 4-1 MWC) at Air Force (8-2, 4-1 MWC) 1:30 pm MT Saturday Root for Air Force!" "This is not so obvious..." because it is wrong. BYU beating Air Force is one of the most important things that needs to happen this weekend. If there is a 2-loss BYU playing at Utah there is no MWC championship on the line. We need that to be on the line for BYU to FULLY show up. Yes, I know the rivalry is a big deal, but a BYU win just wouldn't mean as much to the players and coaches as it would if it meant winning the conference over their rival as well. Besides, if BYU is out of the conference championship picture, you KNOW the A.D. and even coaches have $$$ on their mind that Utah's BCS Bowl would bring to the program. We have nothing to lose and everything to gain by BYU beating Air Force this weekend. They WILL not jump us in the polls after beating Utah. To correct the typo: "Root for BYU... BIG time"

69 POINTS! (Wipe the sweat off my brow)... Almost needed that 5% for gas money. Luckily I spread out the bet between the first half over/under and the game total over/under, or I might would have had a heart attack in the 4th quarter. Hey, I'M RICH!!!!
If anyone else here is a betting man follow these instructions and get rich(er): Take 95% of your life savings (the other 5% save for gas money for when your lady kicks you out) and bet the UNDER on tonight's Fresno-Nevada game. The over/under is 71 points. For your doubters, tell me what happens when you combine a decent offense (Nevada) with a better than average defense at home (Fresno) along with bad defense (Nevada) and a bad offense (Fresno). The answer: Not 71+ points Stay tuned for gloating after the game.

One Bronco Nation Under God (OBNUG) : Bronco Nation's dilemma: Utah or TCU?

That was frustrating to watch. It seemed inevitable that TCU would win. I convinced that Utah was done for all the way up to that 4th down and 5 in TCU territory. Wow, what a finish to a slow game. Looks like it all comes down to the Holy War.

One Bronco Nation Under God (OBNUG) : Bronco Nation's dilemma: Utah or TCU?

I've had this argument with myself countless times over the last 2 weeks. Obviously if we knew that BYU would beat Utah, we would want Utah to beat TCU tonight. However, assuming the Utes prevail against the Cougars, I believe the BCS would feel more pressure to take 2 non-BCS teams if it were Boise State & 1-loss TCU before it would take two undefeated teams in Utah and Boise State. Ball State will also screw us over if they end up in the top 12 and TCU or Utah is ranked ahead of us (not tons of worries because they should lose to Central Michigan). The logic will be that they can't take all three so they'd better just take the highest rated (Utah or TCU) Anyway, I concluded that if TCU, Utah, BYU and Ball State (yes ball state) all have at least one loss, chances are good that we'll get in, regardless of if TCU is ahead in the polls. They'll take two. Also, consider this: Voters may vote TCU ahead of BSU after the Utah game, but who's to say that the last poll won't reflect the fact that Boise is undefeated and TCU has a loss... perhaps voters will vote Boise State ahead of TCU simply to reward Boise with a BCS Bowl. There is no chance of this happening if Utah is undefeated. Also, Nobody wants to rematch TCU and Oklahoma. Should Oklahoma end up in the Fiesta Bowl, BSU would be an extremely attractive at large pick with serious cash implications. Remember, they select before the Orange Bowl and therefore don't have to select the top non-bcs rated team. Okay, I'm off topic and done rambling. Carry on OBNUG.

One Bronco Nation Under God (OBNUG) : Burning question: will Broncos shut out Spartans?

I'm not thinking shut out tomorrow. I'm thinking get a win. I always get an uneasy feeling with road games like this. I was talking to Tim Brady the other day and he said San Jose is just a weird place to play... it feels like a high school game and its hard to keep a high level of energy. That being said, I don't think Tim played much the year that we last went to San Jose. I guess he just kinda got that vibe from the team. Hopefully Jeron and company will see this as an opportunity to roll some heads... but I wouldn't bank on a shut out. Leave that expectation for the Utah State game.

After tonight I am remain unconvinced that we could go head to head with an Oklahoma caliber team this season. We look young and inconsistent our there. WHEN we go to the Orange Bowl we'd better hope for a Wake Forest or a Boston College type opponent. Otherwise we might end up looking like the Rainbows did last year vs Georgia. In the next year or two our O-line will settle in and I'll be more confident.

It'd be really nice for Oregon to win this weekend and go on to take the PAC 10. Some poll voters have a hard time voting for a one-loss team over an undefeated team that beat them. I can see us getting a healthy bounce if they beat USC even if Oregon passes us.
