MMonkey, I'm glad you feel at home here with the IB charts lol. IB has been my broker from day one, but I prefer the look and feel of NinjaTrader's charts and indicators, in the future I plan on buying a NinjaTrader "Lifetime License" so I can integrate IB and NT. That will be an exciting day for this retail trading geek!

Liam, I see the short your looking at also, I'm not familiar with the trading dynamics of EUR.USD as you know, depending on the time frame, a chart could look like a good buy or stock ready to sell off. In the end, what matters is your understanding of how your market of choice works and at what price you are going to take profit or cut your losses. Good luck!

Trincafé.blogspot.com : K.I.S.S. Trading

I have tried and failed many times at "position trading", do a search for FAS or IOC on Trin Café, you will find a few watch lists and other attempts at holding long term positions... and in most cases, I was shaken out. others I had to dump;. a few made a nice profit. As you said, making the transition from day trading to "position trading" is tough, in the future (trading full time) I plan on using two accounts, possibly multiple accounts. In the past I have held positions while day trading from the same account, an underfunded account that quickly became over leveraged, does not take much to ruin a winning position just for one bad trade. This long term strategy may grow into something different over the years, or who knows, the market may sell off 1,000 points as soon as I finish this comment? As I mentioned here many times before, as for trading the most important thing to a trader is not their method or their computer software, it's there ability to manage their capital. An undersized account is destined for a margin call, been there done that. As far as blindly hanging on to a position, I have simplified buying and selling down to 1. technical analysis 2.the time it takes for the market to digest news or market events, and 3. how much money I am prepared to lose on each position. Good luck to you as well.

Trincafé.blogspot.com : K.I.S.S. Trading

Being brave is overrated, maybe it was my blind stupidity for holding on to this position? The truth is, I have been trading and following the markets for over 10 years and I have routinely made the same mistakes, I see the technical analysis but I am too afraid to really act on the really big move, or either my account size is not adequate enough to deal with the markets gyrations (right about direction but get shaken out of my position). This long term option strategy is very experimental, but it is similar to owning the stock with the belief that the charts say the market will continue to rise, and that history has shown that the market has outperformed me in the past few years. My goal is to ride the market momentum for about 12-18 months. Remember when the Dow was at 10,11,12 thousand, I remember wishing I could have bought the market at those low levels, back then it was the same uncertainty as now. I got tired of the woulda coulda shoulda game as MBA put it. Thanks for the comment

http://kinsaleforextrading.blogspot.com/ : 1.3190 Target Finally Hit

It seems regret and trading will always be an issue... if we make a profit, we regret getting out to early, a loss, regret taking the trade. If you made $, pat your self on the back, stay humble and look for the next best trade. I am working on taking my own advice lol, a work in progress.
