Fund My Mutual Fund - Stock Market, Economic, Equity Analysis - Via A Model Mutual Fund : Number of Americans Employed Only Equal to 1999 Levels

Honestly when it was announced at tail end 2010 I predicted that in no way it would be a 1 year extension and in 12 months we'd be hearing the GOP claim it was a tax INCREASE. Instead Obama is using that line. Ironic. But either way I knew going into an election year, with a "meh" economy the politicians would continue to give out candy and not take it away. Frankly it might never go back to 6.2% - once politicians give something away in America they can never take it back, at least in modern politics post 1980s.

Hi Blain, thanks. Michigan folk need to stick together. Can you email me what the 301 thing means, I am pretty clueless on what you are talking about or how to accomplish it. I have created a RSS feed for Montage of course but that's as far as I got. Thanks

I would opine the social media regulations - which seemingly are being developed/changed by the month - harken back to the 1990s in terms of this industry. It's very old school and as if we just developed email. As for the TV my only guess is thats a public forum so maybe like regulation FD if you say something on TV its in the public sphere for everyone to see. Just like if I publish the holdings on a mutual fund website thats in the public sphere. Whereas making comments or something might only be seen in a small circle, but I am just hazarding a guess. Social media is creating a big issue for regulation as before this recent era everything was tightly controlled. So we have a few scouts out there trying new things but essentially a regulator can take you out of business in a nanosecond if you push too hard.

What happens to the prices of things you subsidize? In the U.S. the two most highly subsidized things are university and healthcare. Guess which items are ripping along at 2-3x the pace of wages over the long run? Obviously food is difficult since ... well it is needed. I guess we can now saw with 46M Americans on food stamps we are subsidizing food as well. But food is a lot more portable across borders than healthcare or university education so its a different demand supply dynamic.

Someone actually started Fund My Hedge Fund once - I think it was 08 or 09. It was short lived. I think he actually emailed me at one point - was a long time ago. You can't really do it, because in return for little regulation for the hedgies, you cannot advertise. Most hedge funds the website is something like this 1) Are you an accredited investor? If yes - fill out this form and we'll get into contact 2) If no, get out of here And that's the website.

London, Toronto are top 10 markets of FMMF readership. Singapore in top 15. It stinks. Maybe for the hedge fund in 2017 ;)

Yes about a year and a half or so ago we thought it would be possible for foreign investors but apparently there are some strict laws out there, anti money laundering and such, so availability is only for those with a U.S. tax ID and U.S. address. Even having some trouble with some U.S. citizens who live overseas on this issue. I had a lot of interest overseas so that unfortunately stunk. And yes I consider Canadians overseas too =) A few ppl have emailed me that they have bought U.S. funds as foreigners in their broker accounts (i.e. Schwab) but that might have been in an earlier era before the regulators really tightened up on things. I don't know how they have done it or with what funds. Every avenue we've explored says no on that front.

The new site has a lot of limitations due to compliance requirements. I think off hand there are 4 fund managers who are 'blogging'. It raises a lot of issues. Interaction with you guys is one of them. Anything that is perceived as a sales pitch can be a massive issue. And there are a lot of ways to trip that wire. I don't have the time or energy to make sure I never say anything wrong, so the comments are a no go. Only one of the 3 other fund managers have comments on and its not on his main site(s) - he has 3. He also has a full time internal compliance officer in his office signing off on every thing he says in public. Just having a public sphere you talk in, is pushing the envelope - period. There is a reason almost no one is blogging in that niche of money management. They make it very hard on you. Frankly it is my top concern at this point.

Finviz is a secretive organization. I emailed their 'contact' page multiple times but never heard back. I have no idea who is behind Finviz. If someone has their elite package maybe they could send an email on my behalf but frankly I dont know anyone on their elite package. It would be nice to be there.
