The negativity toward EG is really sad to see. Especially when a sizable chunk would readily accept something like Alicorn Twilight (which could have actual negative consequences on the show), yet an entirely separate spin off with no chance of that happening at all is treated like the plague...

It's making me see a really annoying sense of elitism/fanboyism in this fandom which is totally unlike the ready acceptance that welcomed me back in Feb 2011 and I don't like it one bit.

As you so rightly said, at least give it a chance! Didn't anypony learn anything from FiM? I'm betting that everyone who trashes EG never expected MLP to be good to begin with

It's a total spin off show that won't affect FiM at all. The current rumour (based on a supposed leak) is that the TV movie will be the set up for Equestria Girls

I think its more the "Alicorn" than the "Princess" part everyone got so angry over. I seriously believe that if she were still a unicorn then none of that drama would have happened
