Yes just another ridiculous idea, so desperate for the vote from homeowners. Look at the housing market, Help to buy which gave developers massive profits, buy your social house at discounted prices . Many home buyers trapped with cladding issues and negative equity then having to pay the loans on help to buy.

At the same time pushing the BTR sector which normally means higher rents.

All parties are intent on destroying the PRS, S24, Regs galore, fines for anything, expecting landlords to house for years non paying tenants, now they want to take the houses.

The homeless situation is growing because of all the above and will continue until they see landlords as part of the solution.

Yes there are many smaller landlords suffering at the moment , unfortunately some tenants who are able to pay have took the stand not to. Egged on by Acorn London Union etc.
If the landlord is partime and has other income they can fall back on thi,s but full time landlords dont have a second income.
There are also many large BTL suffering and while many seem to believe that they can carry the loses this is not the case.
Section 24 can mean this group are paying over 100% in tax and will still owe tax even if none of their tenants paid any money.
This is an area which is grossly unfair because a company would avoid this.
Landlords hear repeatedly the word fair but this goes out the window when its the PRS.

Landlords did not get any help with furlough or self employment grant
Landlords could not carry out viewings but still had to pay 100% council tax
Landlords are taxed on their biggest cost and the amount of tax they are paying can be in access of 100%
Landlords were stopped from evicting any tenant at all
landlords did not get an extension on the 5yr elec tests

I am yet to see anything really positive from this government for the BTL sector

The nimbys and planni g committee have to much power and in my area are corrupt.
They call in plans on the wimp of Nimbys and overturn it at committee.
This can be for extensions.
Planners are always sighting over development in my area go to another county you could have 3 properties not one.

Then the objecters calm everything from bat's to newts anything to cause issues.

In the same breath they complaint there's no housing for their children.

Take the power away from these green eyed Nimbys and from the corrupt committees.

Have planners decide plans in other boroughs to limit the corruption here to

The easy solution was pay the rent for those affected direct to landlord. Then no evictions for where cv19 is the cause. Courts should now be allowed to evict all the feckless tenants who could pay rent but choose to spend on luxury items, the ones who cause damage and the anti social ones.

I read the reason the government didn't do this is because they didn't want to be seen as supporting landlords

This is one group that has had no handout in ref to furlough, yet the government want to stop their only source of any income.
Its about time the Tories grew a backbone and started supporting the PRS instead of constant attacks.

I find it strange that a housing society can charge 80% market rents, pay out hugh salaries and don't pay the hugh tax bills landlords do.
Revisit S24 where it makes the tax take higher than profits

Btl generates massively to the economy. Build to rent will not want the lower paid or benefit tenants.
Many landlords took these but this as decreased large scale hence the homelessness.

I agree not many tenants look after the rentals like they would if owned. In fact some deliberately trash properties and trying to get rid of these tenants is a nightmare

Not a solution just homelessness and betrayal.

I agree that it was done for votes , build to rent and money.

Tories betrayed all the hard working landlords who spent years of hard work to start a property business, which housed many people who did not or could not buy

The limit for the relief is set to be cut from £10m to £1m in the March 11 budget. Some Treasury advisers are still pushing for abolition. However, the government is now considering imposing the changes only on new businesses, meaning existing ones could still be sold with the benefit of the tax break.
A source close to the Treasury said: “Nobody ever started a business because of entrepreneurs’ relief, but there [could be] a problem if someone has spent years investing because of it.”

The above should have applied to S24 but G Osborn to keen to milk landlords and now we have a homeless crisis and landlords fleeing the market.

Agree Council tax is daylight robbery

A licence for the councils to tax us to the hilt

Where I live there is so many new builds massive estates everywhere that the council tax take must to massive compared to 10years ago.
Landlords are charged on empty property even if one day bet tenancies
If renovating a property its 100% council tax or 150 % if over 2years, In some this stops rundown property from being bought and done up.
HMO they charge the A band for a room.

Services have all eroded .
