ACORN may be out of business, but do you honestly think the people in that political group are out of work? Please, get the blinders off, they'll be up to their old tricks come election time. I'm also not Republican so please don't generalize, like you're accusing me of doing.

Why, yes, Chet, I have done so. I was also aware enough to call ahead to find out exactly what they needed in order to get my photo ID so I wouldn't have to make more than one trip. I was able to basically walk in and out in short amount of time (the lines weren't that long that day). I didn't have a birth certificate either, just a certificate of live birth, a photocopy to boot with a notary seal on it. I'm also on a tight budget, like everyone else and didn't feel disenfranchised by having to pay for the ID.

You're right, it won't fly. The Democrats won't let it happen since it would cause more work for their friends in ACORN, like you suggest.

I gotta say, while I don't normally agree with Nixon, this was the right thing to do. Most of the rural schools were facing massive cuts, now they won't be. There are still cuts, but not as drastic.

I answered the census, and it's a real shame that it's main focus was on race. Who cares what race you are, focus on the number of people in the home and their ages. Race should have nothing to do with whether or not your area gets money or other benefits.

My wife and I happen to use this program and we also read to our small children every night at bed time. If you would actually research what this program does, you might learn that they don't come in and teach your kids. They give you ideas about how to teach your own kids and help them develop skills for school. It's a wonderful program and that's saying something coming from me since I don't believe in a lot of other government programs.

So once the election season starts in ernest, not only can both these nitwits trash their political opponents, but they can hurl accusations from their divorce trial in a way to smear each other. I sure hope there's a third party candidate in this election running against them. That person could just sit back and watch these two demolish each other and not have to say a thing.

KY3 : Missouri House passes additional requirements for reporting abortions | KY3 News, Weather, Sports -

Actually, yes, it is a crime for a minor to have sex. It's called statuatory rape. It also doesn't depend on whether one party is over 18 or not, I believe. 2nd degree statuatory rape is for someone over 18 (I think it's 21 and older) having sex with a minor. 1st degree is when a person (law doesn't state age) has sex with a minor under the age of 14. So, there is a good reason for this law since, as I just pointed out, there was a crime committed if the girl had sex if she was a minor.

The prosecutor getting notified is going to get the parents involved. The point that many here are missing or willfully ignoring is the simple fact that if a child under 18 is seeking an abortion, then a crime has been committed. I agree, Billman, Pro-Choice or Pro-Life shouldn't be a factor in this, it's about a crime against a minor being committed and the prosecutor doing his/her job in bringing that criminal to justice for committing that crime against the minor.

Well, considering that sex with a minor is a crime, it might help identify those older men who commit statuatory rape, but only if the girl identifies him. Billman, you are right, it will only help if it's reported, which it should be now. How do you know the sexual preferences of the lawmakers? Or if they're white? You're projecting. Keep in mind, using the liberal mantra, it's for the children.

Exactly, rat31465. The Democrats are also saying that Republicans are encouraging these threats, with no evidence to back up their claims. It's the same kind of thing as the Democrats who said they were spit on, they weren't. There's video proof that they were not spit on. There is also no proof behind alligations that racial slurs were yelled. With all the cameras, mics, etc, you would think that it would be caught on tape, of course these slurs weren't. We have to take the word of the Democrats that they actually happened. Based on their past, I wouldn't trust this Democrat Congress to save my life.

The problem with that arguement is, that health care is not a matter of interstate commerce. A person can't buy health insurance across state lines, not even with this disgusting bill. There is no interstate commerce if you can't go across state lines as an individual to purchase your health insurance.

KY3 : Missouri House rejects more money for schools | KY3 News, Weather, Sports - Springfield, MO | Local

I believe it is, last time I heard anything. The issue with this money is that it's not in addition to what's in the general fund. If 4 millon dollars comes from the lottery sales, then 4 millon dollars is taken out of the general fund, money that was allocated to education. The money generated from the lottery goes to the school, not what was allocated in the general fund. So, the school still gets 4 millon dollars, but they really should have gotten 8 millon, imo.
