GazetteOnline.com : Time for baby boomers to stop being selfish

I agree this is a bi-partisan problem, if politians had to live on the same health care\\retirement as ordinary citizens live on, they might pass some real legislation. If the politians didn't steal, excure me 'borrow' from SS we'd have enough to cover the costs. Senior citizens are taking more money, but as health care, living expenses increase what would you vote for letting them live in poverty? This is a generation that has lived through the great depression, WWI & II, korean, Vietnam wars, that contributed much to the prosperity of the United States. They have proved themselves in my eyes to be worthy of the fruits of their labor. The keyword is Labor, not government handouts to those that have never worked. Sorry I'm getting a little sidetracked. The last group og the boomers that are still working, the gen X's and Y's or what ever they are called, its our responsibility to figure out how to make it work, and fund it. Either health care reform, tort reform, etc. Remember, you, your kids, grandchildren will be living off the same benefits you want to change right now.

I'm a baby boomer that's still working, and will be for at least another 10-15 years. I've paid into the system for many years, my money pays for older boomers in retirement. The generation behind me will hopefully be paying into my retirement. That's how its suppose to work. Simple enough, but politicans steal from the SS fund and have done it for years. My parents don't indulge themselves on anything unless you consider paying for medication, nursing home, extra insurance. Their only indulgance is they do eat. If you don't like social security and medicade, remember to refuse it when you retire, save it for some one else.

GazetteOnline.com : Free walk-in vaccine clinic today in Hiawatha

St Lukes did a fantastic job today in Hiawatha. Parking was a little tight, but walking I received my application to fill out and once turned in, I immediately sat down and was vacinated. The longest part of the process was waiting 15 minutes after the shot was administered. Congrats to St Lukes, but I felt sorry for the two people directing traffic.
