Macleans.ca : Liveblogging Mark Steyn and Ezra Levant at the Justice committee

Thanks Kady for the live blog. I watch the actual hearing and thought that Steyn and Levant did an excellant job Please also Liveblog when (if) the CC Lynch appears as she and DND may have some trouble explaining some of the actions of staff and ex-staff away. She may need that Seeing Eye Horse.

Ah Yes Kady - but will you be attending Monday's Parliamentary Hearing on the CHRC and Section 13? Steyn and Levant will be there so please do a Liveblog. If Lynch shows up = a CIRCUS. Talk about non-confidence.

BCL, you are clearly no lawyer. I think if you combine this article along with that of Steyn and Nancy MacDonald in the September 21/09 issue - you might see the light (someday).

Macleans.ca : It took a while but Section 13 is dead

As Mary has said - Steyn and Levant are real Canadian heros. They (plus Lemire) for having the tenacity to DARE fight back has in a small way helped restore Freedom of Speech into a Canadian context. The man in the picture got described as"The bravest ever Canadian ever" in a puff piece in the Ottawa Citizen in 2007 but the halo appears to have become a bit tarnished in the Lustig ruling and even more in Warman v.Lemire by Hjais. And even more so for the intervenors who witnessed the antics and tactics, stood by and did NOTHING. While they are demanding an APPEAL, no where have they apologized for allowing this travesty of justice to occur under their watch. That includes the AG! But to the CHRC officers and managers - have any been disciplined, dismissed or otherwise counselled? Has an internal inquiry been convened to see what other "infractions" were commited - how many other racist posts were posted by employees and ex-employees? Me thinks not. But thanks Macleans for having Steyn as a contributor. I renewed my subscription again. Perhaps next have Levant join the team?

Time for Canada to grow up and dump the Monarchy - keep the symbols on the coin for a period but we really DO NOT need a Gov General and all the other puff that goes along with her trips home and to France.

Macleans.ca : Why do you leave the one you love?

Steyn is always entertaining - and provocative. There are some others he might have querried (bloggers and commentators) that retain residence in Canada but work in the USA. Jamie Glaslov (FrontPage mag?) for one. They use every opportunity to criticize Canada but have no qualms about living in it and accessing the social benefits.

The issue is NOT about funding any particular sexual orientation group. It is ALL about funding any special interest groups, advocacy, ethnic or religious groups etc. As a taxpayer - I would rather my $$$ going to help those in need. SHE made a gross error in judgement and is not deserving of public trust.

Can't disagree there Ex-Grunt. Steyn has made MacLeans into a weekly well worth subscribing to - have now renewed my subscription. He has an inate ability to cut to the chase and reflect what ordinary americans and Canadians actually think and believe. Several bloggers like The Blazing Cat Fur, Jay Currie and Ezra Levant provide more insight into politics than canwest ever did.
