I was raised in Kentucky and moved here 8 years ago. Funny enough the first thing I said was McCracken Kentucky it makes perfect sense. I grew up in a town called Manchester and it was just as bad.

the child was not given back to the mother. She lost custody of all 3 of her children and they were given to the fathers. She only gets visitation. She will not get them back.

Not all parents who ask for state aid are unfit parents. I have 2 kids and yes I will admit I do have Medicaid for my two kids. Why? Not because I am a bad parent it is because I got laid off and my husband doesn't have insurance where he is employed any longer. So I got medicaid to make sure my kids could see a doctor when needed. So when they got sick I could make sure they can see a doctor. I hate not being employed because I LOVE working, I hate being dependent on the government. I go to college 20 credit hours a semester and still take care of my kids. When my kids go to bed at 8pm I stay up sometimes until 4am to get all my homework done just to wake up at 6am to get my kids ready for school. I stay on the deans list to keep my scholarships and so I can graduate from college proud. I go to college so I can graduate with a degree in psychology and social work. So that I can hopefully if my dream comes true work at St. Jude's Children's hospital as a counseling social-worker.

I still give back to my community, I donate to the homeless shelters and to the goodwill. I am first aid and CPR certified.I keep an emergency kit in my house just in case, because you can never be too prepared for an accident. I bust my butt to be a good parent and role model to my kids so do NOT judge every person who depends from time to time on government help as a unfit parent. The government does not pay for my roof, electric or heat. Granted we do get a little bit of food stamps which we save until the end of the month for

emergencies. My husbands paycheck pays for our mortgage, our home insurance, or car insurance and car payment. My husbands paycheck pays for our gas, and our electric, our phone, and most of our food. My kids are not uncontrollable at stores.

My son is learning how to read and asks how to spell words and gets excited if he sees a sight word but he's not running around looking like a heathen. He's holding onto OUR HANDS in the store quiet and well behaved, and my daughter is the same way. If we go out to eat with family they are quiet and polite at the restaurant with their please and thank-you, and they color and wait for their food to come out. My kids may have the occasional melt down at relatives houses, or may cry from time to time, but they know if they act up in public we walk out right then and there and go straight home.

I would never EVER harm my kids, and I make sure I protect them. When I get off government assistance I will be proud to have a job and to fully support my kids with out help from the government because I hate people thinking I am just like all the others. I take care of my kids, they are well behaved I am not like the parents who everyone assume I am because of a Medicaid card or because of my bridge card.

Unfortunately stereotyping people always ends up badly, and usually it causes racist and uneducated stereotypes to propagate.

I am an example of a person who uses it when needed not abuses it like so many others do. The ones who abuse it give a bad rep to those who really need it. Those who abuse the help from the government make it harder for those who really need it to be able to get it.

Further more I firmly believe anyone who wants to apply for government aid should get a drug test.

I look at all these articles of dads who kill their kids, of mothers who honestly doesn't give a crap about their kids and it breaks my heart. It makes me ill because I cannot understand how a parent could do such a thing. How a mother who supposedly loves their kids can do so much harm. Who could murder their kids in cold blood. Who could sexually abuse them, who could beat them. Those people are not parents because those people do not love those children.

Note: I openly admit my grammar and spelling sucks. Microsoft Word is my friend at college and keeps my grades up :)

At least hes safe. The same thing happened to a person in a Lexus here in Jackson was my neighbor and they crashed because the 911 operator didn't know what to do. Nobody told him to shut off his ignition so he and his family crashed at 100mph resulting in lives lost.

I commend the mom for what shes done. I am sure this has to be one of the hardest decisions she has ever made. Seeing all the parents in the news recently and the tragedy's that have happened its good to see a mother doing what is in the best interest of the child.
