Lindsey Nobles : On Turning 34

Happy Birthday Lindsey and I must say I have enjoyed your view and perspective of this past year as I found your blog shortly after Catalyst last year. For me the birthday thing now has more to do with who I'm sharing it with than what we're doing or where we choose to celebrate. For years it seemed like each year had to top the last, but now just having those closest to me with me marks the moment. Maturing has played a role, reprioritizing my world due to circumstances has had a hand in it as well, but I think appreciating and understanding that each day is a gift (something I took for granted) is what has set the tone lately. All that being said, celebrate not only your BirthDay, or your BirthWeek, but the entire BirthMonth by filling September with incredible moments shared with family and friends! My recent post And the winner is……name this Contest

Lindsey Nobles : Drafting Blueprints, Part 4

Making a time-centric investment in family has been on my commitment list every year. (VIP’s & family are one in the same in my mind) Just being there for someone doesn’t equal a passing grade; success is them knowing, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that you’re efforts have helped them grow personally, professionally, or spiritually further than they couldn’t have had that investment not been made. For me that is the dividend of an investment in someone where the goal is deep authentic friendships/relationships. Thanks for opening my mind by sharing a snapshot into what God has placed on your heart. Wishing you much happiness and Blessings as you continue on your journey! My recent post TomMartinATL: Subaru is a great brand, only downside is there is no closing for bad weather when everything you sell is All-Wheel-Drive

Lindsey Nobles : Drafting Blueprints, Part 4

Hey Lindsey, I love where you are tracking with Drafting Blueprints. As I read through all 4 Blueprints this afternoon I couldn't help but laugh because it appears as though we are on a similar journey/quest. A few years ago I re-thought my resolution and goal setting way of thinking. For me resolutions had become things I resolved to do and goals were just things I strived to accomplish. Success or failure in those categories hinged on in what I was truly committed to not what made it on the paper. Since then before every New Year I create a commitment list of items I’m totally committed to. It’s the kind of list where anything less than 100% commitment is failing. (My personal blueprint) For me intentional living, not a life of resolving to or striving for, leads me to make commitments worth keeping. (Continued) My recent post TomMartinATL: RT @loswhit (via PrayforKate) PRAY FOR KATE NOW!!!!!!!!!
Stuff Christians Like - Jon Acuff : 9 words that changed my life.

I have never read the verse in that light. The comma becomes the latch pin that holds everything together. Sin is erased and hope is restored. For me it’s Jesus saying: “when you turn back you’ll then know why I came and through that, Hope becomes Eternal because your Hope is now in Me." What the Christmas Story represents, thanks Jon. Merry Christmas to all!

Michael Hyatt Blog : Book Notes: Interview with Donald Miller, Part 1

One other component of the interview which I hope the story dives into is the correlation between change = fear. I know my own experience with change and fear is exactly what was mentioned. For me losing the job I never thought I'd leaving, finding myself in a nursing home battling a staph infection, but in the midst of these changes, the fear, & fighting for my life I found a Savior and connected with God in a relationship not as part of ritual, losing 200+ pounds, my Father's post retirement alcoholism, running my first 10K, etc. All this and so much more set in the motion by change; change I didn't think I could survive yet change I'm now grateful for that now defines my character. Just wanted to add my final thought on the interview, hope to see Don in Atlanta this fall. @TomMartinATL

I don't think I heard of Donald Miller until I saw a RT. Not having read Blue Like Jazz, I don't have a reference point to draw from, but this interview leaves me wanting to know the whole story. One thing I found compelling Don’s statement & your follow up about how the accidental can become intentional, especially when you listen to God and in obedience He will provide the motivation, skills, & resources to make anything possible, ex: Don's cross country bike trip for charity. Learning more about the parallels in his life & mine such as the weight loss, reconnecting with family, being at the top of your profession and then suddenly being without a compass, or as he said “finding nothing to give your life to” also peaked my interest. Thanks to Don for doing the interview & thanks to you for opportunity to win the book before I buy it! @TomMartinATL

North Point Online : Help Us Spread The Word! Win a Book!

It was the sermon "The cost to follow Christ" given by Afshin Ziafat during Andy's The Star, the Cross, and the Cresent series. Hearing what Afshin, as a Muslim, had to give up and endure all in the name of following Jesus Christ was a great "real world" lesson of what being an early follower of the Christ must have been like. It's still featured in the message rotation on northpoint.org.

Ran my 1st Peachtree Road Race on the 4th and a few days before I dream I'm running with my whole family (parents to nieces and everyone in between). The dream was just like in those old war movies where the guy gets shot and tells his buddies to leave him to save themselves, I'm running down Peachtree and as I'm falling behind I tell everyone to "go on without me"....talk about waking up confused!

Boy the answer to that question has changed over the years! Now just spending time with family & friends about covers it. Doesn't matter where but the sound of water definetly helps! Yesterday was a good example, no beach or exotic locale, just in the parents backyard after 3 generations worshiped together, shared a meal, old photos, replayed some old stories, that was vaction for me!
