Big Hollywood : Reviewer: HBO's 'Game Change' Relentlessly Mocks 'Ignoramous' Palin

When someone like Sarah Palin can make it as far as she has, it can mean only one thing and it's not a particularly good sign. We are living in a culture that has been custom-tailored for idiots. When a person who can barely put two coherent sentences together without the aid of a teleprompter becomes one of the best-selling non-fiction authors of the decade, that's usually a pretty good indicator that society is spiraling downward at a fairly decent clip. Fasten your seat belts, kiddies! http://www.tomdegan.blogspot.com Tom Degan

Nice one, Mike! And now these people are talking about the poorest among us being taxed every April 15! According to these plutocratic handmaidens, the tax code simply isn't fair. People who live at or below the poverty level have to start chipping in! A family of four making $22,000 a year (or less) will have to shell out to the feds. Can you believe that? Think about it: That single mother who barely scratches out a living assembling Big Macs at the McDonald's down the street? If these hideous bastards and bitches have their way, she will now have to send a check (assuming she has a checking account) to the IRS every April 15. Of course that will mean she and others in her income bracket will have a lot less money to pump back into this already-feeble economy - a fact that apparently has not been taken into consideration by the knuckleheads who govern us. http://www.tomdegan.blogspot.com Tom Degan And they call us "elitists"!

Information Clearing House - News you won't find on CNN : Democracy Died First in Wisconsin – Long Live the Oligarchs : Information Clearing

Ascribing humanity to a corporation, to a company like Exxon or Disney for example, raises too many questions to even list here. But let's at least attempt to ask a few of them, shall we, boys and girls? Here goes.... Are corporations really persons? Do corporations think? Do corporations weep? Do corporations fall in love? Do corporations grieve when a loved one dies as a result of a lack of adequate health care? Do corporations have loved ones? Are corporations even capable of loving? Do corporations sometimes lose sleep at night worrying about disease, violence, destruction, and the suffering of their fellow corporations? Do corporations feel your pain? Can a corporation run for public office? Can corporations laugh at themselves? Are they capable of the self-deprecating sense of humor that the Irish are famous for? (EXAMPLE: "So these two corporations walk into a bar....") If a corporation ever committed an unspeakable crime against the American people, could IT be sent to federal prison? (Note the operative word here: "It") Can a corporation register to vote? We all know that corporations have made a shit-load of cash throughout our history by profiting on the unspeakable tragedy of war. But has a corporation ever given its life for its country? Is a corporation capable of raising a child? Does a corporation have a conscience? Does it feel remorse after it has done something really bad? Has a corporation ever been killed in an accident as the result of a design flaw in the automobile it was driving? Has a corporation ever written a novel or a dramatic play or a song that inspired millions? Has a corporation ever risked its life by climbing a ladder to save a child from a burning house? Has a corporation ever won an Oscar? Or an Emmy? Or a Tony? Or the Nobel Peace Prize? Or a Polk or Peabody Award? Or the Pulitzer Prize in Biography? Has a corporation ever performed Schubert's Ave Maria? Has a corporation ever been shot and killed by someone who was using an illegal and unregistered gun? Has a corporation ever paused to reflect upon the simple beauty of an autumn sunset or a brilliant winter moon rising on the horizon? If a tree falls in the forest, does it make a noise if there are no corporations there to hear it? Should corporations kiss on the first date? Could a corporation resolve to dedicate its life to being an artist? Or a musician? Or an opera singer? Or a Catholic priest? Or a rabbi? Or a Doctor? Or a Dentist? Or a sheet metal worker? Or a gourmet chef? Or a short-order cook? Or a magician? Or a nurse? Or a trapeze artist? Or an author? Or an editor? Or a Thrift Shop owner? Or a EMT worker? Or a book binder? Or a Hardware Store clerk? Or a funeral director? Or a sanitation worker? Or an actor? Or a comedian? Or a glass blower? Or a chamber maid? Or a film director? Or a newspaper reporter? Or a deep sea fisherman? Or a farmer? Or a piano tuner? Or a jeweler? Or a janitor? Or a nun? Or a Trappist Monk? Or a poet? Or a pilgrim? Or a bar tender? Or a tar bender? Or a used car salesman? Or a brick layer? Or a mayor? Or a soothsayer? Or a Hall-of-Fame football player? Or a soldier? Or a sailor? Or a butcher? Or a baker? Or a candlestick maker? Could a corporation choose to opt out of all the above and merely become a bum? Living life on the road, hopping freight trains and roasting mickeys in the woods? I realize that this is pure theological speculation on my part but the question is just screaming to be posed: When corporations die, do they go to Heaven? Our lives - yours and mine - have more worth than any goddamned corporation. To say that the Supreme Court made an awful decision in January of 2010 is an understatement. Not only is it an obscene ruling, it is an insult to our humanity. http://www.tomdegan.blogspot.com Tom Degan

Big Journalism : Ground Zero Mosque Developer An NBC "Person Of The Year"

Finally a little bit of justice for the most overtly corrupt politician of my lifetime - and I was born when Eisenhower was in the White House. The very idea of watching a disgusting little pol like Tom Delay being marched off to prison in one of those orange jumpsuits is a dream come true. Oh, thank you, fate! He smiled when he had his mug shot taken because, as he told reporters, "I wanted people to see Christ in my face". I won't tell you who I saw - but it definitely wasn't Jesus Christ. Tom Delay sent off to the BIG HOUSE. Isn't life wonderful? Happy Thanksgiving indeed! http://www.tomdegan.blogspot.com Tom Degan

Big Government : Tea Party President in 2012

Back on January 19, I speculated on the possibility of a Palin candidacy in 2012. Actually, "speculation" is the wrong word. It was pure, stratospheric fantasy on my part. Not even when I occasionally experimented with LSD over three decades ago, did my mind ever conjure up a vision that weird. As I wrote at the time: I am going to wish upon a star that Sarah Palin gets the nod of her party in three years. It would only mean electoral doom for them. I cannot believe that the American people, in the end, would be nutty enough to send her to the Executive Mansion in 2012. I realize that this is merely a pipe dream on my part, but it is not out of the realm of possibility. So far out of the main stream has that party drifted in the last thirty years, a Sarah Palin candidacy is not only possible, it's damned-near inevitable!" Again, I must emphasize that this was wishful thinking on my part; of course I was just kidding myself. To paraphrase an old Ringo Starr song, "pigs will fly and the earth will fry" before a situation that weird ever transpires. The sensible side of me kept saying, "It'll never happen". Now I'm not so sure. Back in July on his MSNBC program, Hardball, Chris Matthews (whom I think is one of the smartest sons-of-bitches out there) laid out the scenario in black and white: 1. Our Miss Sarah makes a good showing - and perhaps even wins - the Iowa Caucuses due to the heavy presence of the evangelical vote in that state. 2. She can't possibly beat Mitt Romney near his home turf in the New Hampshire primary, but she takes a respectable second place - which causes the Romney campaign to implode overnight. 3. Next stop: South Carolina - where the average voter in any given Republican primary has the IQ of a bag of soiled laundry. Remember 2000? It was in South Carolina that the voters practically handed the nomination to George W. Bush, thus obliterating the candidacy of John McCain - who until that moment had been the presumptive nominee. Predicting that Sarah Palin would win the South Carolina primary three years from now is as easy as predicting that the sun will set in the west this evening. At that point she will have all the momentum she needs to glide handily to the convention and the nomination. Could it actually happen? My luck has never gotten that good! But what a treat that would be: FASCIST BARBIE as the nominee of a major political party? A woman who quit her job as governor of Alaska in order to make a quick buck (in fact many millions of them) and then had the gall to blame the naughty liberal media for her decision to bail out on the people of that state? Such a possibility would be too good to be true! Oh, please, fate! Oh, please! Oh, please! Oh, please! Please bear in mind that I only wish her the nomination because she could never get elected. Her candidacy would only guarantee the reelection of Barack Obama come Election Day, right?....RIGHT??? I'm still enough of a cockeyed optimist to believe in my heart that the American electorate wouldn't do something as drastic and foolish as sending Gidget von Braun to the White House. Whoa! But wait a minute....What if she were to be elected? What if we were to wake up on the morning after the election to find the jackasses on FOX and Friends beside themselves with glee, chanting like rabid little myna birds , "PRESIDENT-ELECT PALIN! PRESIDENT-ELECT PALIN!" What then? I have given serious thought to this mind-numbing, dreadful possibility. After thinking the subject over carefully, I have concluded that I am one of the very few people in this country who make under a million dollars per year who would actually benefit from a Palin administration. As I wrote on this site a number of months ago, I'm the kind of guy who, if you give me a bag of nasty tasting lemons, I'll go out and make a delicious pitcher of juicy lemonade. Take our ex-president - now hiding deep within the bunker under his home in Dallas, Texas: While George W. Bush was the worst thing to ever happen to the country that I love so much, the half-witted little bastard was the best thing that ever happened to me! The blog you are now reading is as much his legacy as anyone's. For a person who makes his or her name satirizing the train wreck that American politics has become in the last quarter century, the very idea of a Palin White House is enough to make all of us salivate like a kennel full of Pavlov's dogs, awaken from their blissful slumber by the bells of doom. What would the possibility of a President Palin mean for the United States? It would probably mean the death of this country - but that would be a fait accompli as far as I'm concerned. A people stupid enough to send someone like that to the White House deserves everything that happens to them. http://www.tomdegan.blogspot.com Tom Degan

FOX Toledo Online : Bush to do TV circuit for memoir

So, Bush has written his memoirs, huh? One could only expect a pop-up book from this knucklehead. At one point in the new book Bush tells us that in 2004 he considered removing Cheney from the ticket to prove that he was the one in charge. He changed his mind when the vice-president told him not to. Yesterday I received an e-mail from the Bush/Cheney Alumni Association. Yeah, I admit it, I subscribe. It is an amusing thing indeed to watch these knuckleheads try to rewrite history. I suggest you all subscribe. There is so much entertainment value to be gotten from this site - and SCADS of unintentional humor! The e-mail contained a video link with a clip of Dubyah promoting his new book. When I attempted to click it on, instead of the former First Fool's image, the following words appeared on the screen: "UNEXPECTED ERROR HAS OCCURRED" Those are the only true words I have ever received from the Bush/Cheney Alumni Association. http://www.tomdegan.blogspot.com Tom Degan Goshen, NY

Big Government : Dem Pollster: Obama Needs Another Oklahoma City Bombing to Reconnect

So, Keith Olberman donated some cash to a couple of Democratic candidates? I am shocked. SHOCKED! Conflict of interest? Please. He should have donated to the candidacies of Michelle Bachmann or Rand Paul. Now THAT would have been a conflict of interest! Could it be that the suits at MSNBC have finally found the excuse they needed in order to silence the most lethal progressive voice broadcasting in the main stream media today? Remember, that network didn't "go left" a few years ago out of any ideological conviction. It was purely a business decision on their part. After all, they had one time given a forum to Michael Wiener Savage among other people... "Alan Keyes Is making Sense". Remember that little early evening atrocity from about a decade ago? "Watch It with Laura Ingram". Remember that monumental televised train wreck? MSNBC eventually realized that they couldn't outfox FOX Noise so they went to the left out of sheer desperation. It turned out to be a damned good move on their part. Maybe now they can afford to dump the most visible thorn in the side of the right wing plutocracy. http://www.tomdegan.blogspot.com Tom Degan Goshen, NY

DISCLAIMER: I don't smoke pot. I haven't touched the stuff since my nineteenth birthday - August 16, 1977 - which, coincidentally, was the day that Elvis Presley died. I always tell people that Elvis and I quit drugs at the very same time, the only difference being that I did so voluntarily. Having said that, let me say this: Nearly three-quarters-of-a-century after it was made illegal; half-a-century after it was proven to be practically harmless - why is it still a crime to possess and smoke marijuana? Here is a list of ten famous people - heavy smokers all - who died as a result of nicotine abuse: Humphrey Bogart Edward R. Murrow Nat King Cole George Harrison John Huston Noel Coward Betty Grable Walt Disney Gary Cooper Peter Jennings Here is another list. Ten famous people who died from alcoholism: Tennessee Williams Jack Kerouac Truman Capote Lorenz Hart Veronica Lake Bix Beiderbecke Montgomery Clift Dylan Thomas John Barrymore Errol Flynn Now I'm going to ask you to name for me one celebrity who has died from too much grass. Go on, I'm waiting..... You couldn't do it, could you? No, neither could I. Not only have I never heard of anyone dying in that matter, I am not aware of it happening in all recorded human history! Why, in 2010, are we still having this stupid conversation? Is it a "gateway drug" as they never tire of reminding us? Yeah, it probably is. But so is Pabst Blue Ribbon. Let's get a grip here. http://www.tomdegan.blogspot.com Tom Degan Goshen, NY

Information Clearing House - News you won't find on CNN : WTF?: A Letter to Appalled and Puzzled European Friends &n

IT'S MOURNING IN AMERICA I guess this is as good a time as any to do the old Get Out The Vote pitch, huh? As I stated a couple of weeks ago ("The Base's Hissy Fit", 29 September) staying home and sulking on the second of November is not the smart thing to do. Yes, I know! The Obama administration has not necessarily been a progressive's dream boat. They have been timid and tepid in too many areas where bold and decisive action was required. Since the day after he was inaugurated I've been saying that his biggest mistake was in thinking he could work with the extremist clowns who have hijacked the Republican party. He can't. By this stage in the game this fact must be abundantly clear to him. He should stop the facade of trying to make nice with these people and steamroll the hideous bastards if he has to - while he still has a majority. As someone once said, "Politics ain't bean bag" - whatever the hell that means. It's a given that the nastiest mid-term campaign in living memory is only going to get nastier in the two weeks left to it. The grim choice before us is the choice between two political parties - one thoroughly corrupted; the other the picture of incompetence and timidity. I realize that our options aren't many. I would only ask you to think of it as choosing between brain cancer and athlete's foot. While the latter may be annoying at best - and curable - the former is a literal death sentence. How's that for an analogy? And you tell me over and over again You don't believe we're on the eve of destruction Barry McGuire So sit back and try to enjoy the ride as America spirals into the abyss. What other choice do we have than make the best of a tragic situation? The United States of America is screwed. It's best days are behind it. And the American people are too stupid to even vaguely comprehend the gravity of their situation. Whaddaya say we take these lemons and make us some lemonade? http://www.tomdegan.blogspot.com Tom Degan Goshen, New York
