However, buying a home as an investment has always involved risk, even in good times. No loan papers I ever signed promised that the housing market would never change or that my home would never lose value during the term of my loan. I own a home now in Nevada that has lost half its value, the mortgage I owe is twice what the home is worth. But I am not going to play the victim here - it was my choice to buy the house during the bubble. It is a risk I took, and unfortunately the market collapsed, no matter what the cause.
