I hope you enjoyed it! I tried to make it mostly actually witchy and haunting, but also include women who are witchy in the Toast Witch sense.

<3 Hopefully we can do another Philly meet up at some point soon. I would love to not completely lose track of fellow Toast Persons in the metro area.

Hi lovelies, I miss you all and I miss this extraordinary, singular place already.

Here is a Too Witches playlist to play us out: http://8tracks.com/totheisland/too-witches

(Trying not to cry at work!)

Yes!! I was writing little liner notes on a few of the tracks on my Toast Mix CD, and my comment on Neko Case and her solitary witch life/inherent smart-ass Toastie-ness was in danger of rapidly turning into an essay.

I love her so, so much (and would love to hang out with her and her rescue greyhounds on her farm in NE Vermont)

My brain weird is not exactly the same as yours, but similar enough that I totally understand that feeling of "both my greatest asset and my greatest enemy here is my brain" (and way beyond the "if you only believe in yourself you will succeed" spin which people mean by similar phrasing).

I also had underdiagnosed brain issues which placed me in enrichment and honors classes throughout grade school, but torpedoed my GPA once I reached college. I never did finish my degree (left two different schools), and knew I would literally never get to go to grad school and succeed in my area of passion like I knew I could because I was often too overwhelmed by anxiety over mundane assignments and time management make the requisite grades. It's a lot to work through.

Anyway, your writing about that was beautiful, and I'm sorry if I've made this about me. I just want you to know you aren't alone in this. You are still smart (and your therapist is wrong about your ADHD meaning that your parents did not give you appropriate structure/teach sufficient executive functioning skills. ADHD brains genuinely are different)

Thanks for being the one to post here about it and being anchor blanket for the picnic!

Yes, it was great! There was a high percentage of dyed hair, bright lipsticks, and humanities degrees among the group, which seemed about right. Everyone was funny and generous and I got to tell my "accidentally making out in front of a creepy possum" story and eat cream puffs. A+

We love you here! Especially if the fact that we all instantly thought to ourselves "CleverManka's time has come! Bring on the gifs!" when that Tom Hiddleston article posted yesterday is anything to go by.

Like everyone else has said a few hundred times before me: I get it, I really do. It has been clear that you all have put so much love and time and your astonishing brainpower into this site. When it's time, it's time.

I'm fairly bereft, but those feelings will pass. But THANK YOU to everyone involved for making this space exist.

PS: Nicole specifically, I have been encouraged to watch you navigate your faith but also still support feminism and sex workers and a pluralistic society and making space for people to tell their stories, etc. Lots of people tell you faith and these things aren't compatible, and I struggle with that tension in my own Christian community. I have prayed for you on occasion, and will continue to do so. Thanks.
