Voodoo Knickers : :: Sigh :: People Assembling a Geodesic Dome the Slow, Dangerous Way

If you have a super heavy steel dome that is bigger than 50' it can be helpful to have a crane but it's still not necessary. If you build a dome bottom up they waffle around because they are missing critical stabilizing struts at the center vertices. Domes have a consistent structural integrity when assembled top down. So when you're adding more struts to the bottom you just have 1 person (or two) lift the dome, it maintains it's shape :) so most points have either 5 or 6 struts coming out of them. assuming the top three struts are bolted into place the remaining two are loose on the ground in opposite directions. Lifting the dome at all scissors them together and means that any lifting folds the struts into place and gets them ready to be bolted. If you're assembling the two bottom levels it can be helpful to have 2 or 3 lifters but that's much easier than finding a scissor lift, crane or clambering around on dangerous ladders.

so previously all comments were moderated but people that I had positively moderated once were automoderated afterwards. Rating comments up/down doesn't create a redundant system but instead gives people access to content that people think is more relevant. or gives people the opportunity to hate on stuff that they aren't into.

yeah, this is super bloaty. I had to wait 10 seconds for the page to load. totally unacceptable. Interesting that the board members of openID are six apart people. I don't know about it in the long term, personally I like to keep my usernames and logins apart. I think other people like it though.
