"Yokai Watch was engineered to be a mega hit. The only reason it started out slow on the 3DS for the first title is becasue the anime wasn't out yet. Once the anime and toys hit, the franchise blew up."

Totally agree with you. Multimedia promotion in the anime and merchandise is the only reason I can think of for a new IP like Yokai Watch maintaining powerful sales in a boom and fizzle market like Japan after having modest initial sales. Nintendo really needs to consider doing that for some of their franchises. It could really bolster their mind share with the masses. I mean it works for Pokemon.

WHOA! It's not every day that a new IP's sequel outdoes the first in less than a WEEK! Man, Level 5 must have done something right with the first game. Yokai Watch is now an official storm IP!! If Level 5 plays their cards right, it could grow into a big time multimedia franchise in Japan and can even find an audience in the West. I personally want to try this and with all the money they're making they can easily publish it overseas. Oh boy, if Yokai Watch 2 has as good legs as its predeccesor...yikes.

The thing I could never understand is why we as gamers have to make such a big deal about what OTHERS like. Oh no, simply enjoying what you like and allowing other to do the same isn't enough. What YOU like must be OTHERS like as well, even if it means you have to waste hours every day, flaming trailers and articles with your extreme opinions while making an *ss of yourself. Archimedes123 made a great video on the topic himself. It's one of the older ones but nails the point just as well:

Man, seeing Best Buy doing this really makes me wish that I had waited to be Link Between Worlds and Bravely Default. (To add insult to injury, I haven't actually played them yet.) Oh well, at least I'll be able to buy Kirby and get Yoshi for free!
