I have been a registered Republican for over 30 years, simply because I believed in the ideas of Ronald Regan- less government, less taxes and more individual responsibilities with the right to make our own decisions. This is a stark contrast to what he Democrats believe. It is a philosophical difference. I have been drawn to the ideas of the Libertarian Party of late, but even those Libertarians have gone over to the Republican party to get elected on the national level. We have the Independents being the fastest growing party identification recently with defections from both the Democrats and Republicans, but I do not know if this will hold up in a national election. It never has previously. If the Republican party would only go back to what made them great, they would take back a number of the seats in Congress as well as the Presidency.
