Sadly, I will not have time to do this if I do get accepted in to the Marines. Although I do enjoy competitive battling, I realize it is something that I can not do for a career. Since Pokemon is not a productive hobby as you stated, I know that I am not accomplishing much by investing some of my free time into Pokemon. Since Pokemon is most likely not going to get me anywhere, I make sure all of my priorities are taken care of before I do play Pokemon.
