Remember the self-belief, prosperity and freedom we had as a country in 2012. And how it has been destroyed by pound store Little Englanders posing as patriots while actually in hoc to cronies in Washington.
If we were over a barrel before, then heaven knows what the present situation is.

I am sure Trump will come through this and win the election. He has been an excellent President which is why the 'deep state' are desperate to get him out.

Actually, I don't mind Trump - he has the courage to say what he thinks and appears to be his own man, unlike George W Bush and Obama. If you look at what Trump has done (and, indeed, not done), he has been a good President of very sound judgement.

Basically, it's the same story with education as it is with travel, high street shopping, libraries, pubs and attending the sports centre. The government know they can't openly shut them so they make it as unpleasant, difficult or impossible to use them as they can. Then the services are closed by the back door, ready for the country to be asset-stripped by internet trillionaires and their bosses in the American government.

Yes, of particular concern to me is the links between some British politicians and the far right in the US. We never did find out how the Brexit Party managed to secure enough funds to fight the 2019 election.

But of course, powerful interests do not want our town centres to return to normal. Amazon certainly, Zoom, Microsoft, perhaps even our large supermarkets. I wonder how much influence they are exerting on the media and government with their vast resources?

It seemed a bit of a King Canute job. If the virus wasn't stamped out by the strict lockdown, then why would these fairly modest new restrictions make a difference?
Better to have left all precautions to individuals to begin with - allow those who wanted or needed to isolate to do so, and everyone else just to get on with life. Eventually, that will happen anyway, with or without the virus, as it will become an economic necessity.
Johnson will find out sooner or later that failure is an orphan, just as Blair did over Iraq.

No, a fascist takeover. Look at the pandering to the corporations and the nationalistic rhetoric.

We had nine stitches in the first lockdown, and it clearly didn't solve the crisis, so what's the point of one stitch now?

And who is going to benefit from this shutdown? Why, it's the American corporations of Amazon, Google, Microsoft, Apple again, and their cronies in the American state. What a coincidence.
