They haven't done much when it comes to Jigsaw being dead and his legacy. 4 was all about his origin and how he could still set up eleborate traps despite being dead. Then 5 was essentially the same thing but taking place in parrallel/ slightly before the autopsy of Saw 4. We still don't know his "other" apprentice, and I think it's because the writers can't come up with something decent, and they're delaying as much as possible. They can't go with the doctor Gordon route because that's too obvious. they could try to introduce another random person who managed to escape fro a trap and was turned into a psychopath, but this series is dying a slow death and if this movie doesn't rap it up, then Saw 7 will probably be in space 500 years in the future.
