Thank you for the info Susan. Although, the article doesn't say it is "inaccurate," rather the article (at monticello) claims that this is a quote of Thomas Jefferson quoting someone else. The original link given as the source of the quote (at foundersquotes.com) explains this.

I think you missed my point cipher. I made no argument one way or another about the act quoted in the article. I merely pointed out that one sentence in the article is begging to be misunderstood. Private security guards "legally carry badges and guns" and yet they are not agencies of civil government. Reread my comment.

I don't understand this comment: "When any institution’s agents legally carries badges and guns, it is an agency of civil government." Don't private security guards carry badges and guns? Does that mean that every business or organization which hires security guards is an agency of civil government? How about a church which has security guards that have badges and guns. Is the church now an agency of civil government? I think it would have been more accurate to say "When any institution’s agents carries badges and guns by legislative authority, it is an agency of civil government." I think that was probably what the author meant, judging by the context. It is an important distinction though, because most people will interpret "legally" to mean "not restricted by law" as opposed to "instituted by law."

Hello mikespeir. Caudle has plead guilty. Although, I still stand by the principle that I originally stated. It was right to presume innocence until guilt was proven. That will always be right. So what happened to "SCIENCE, LOGIC,and COMMON SENSE ! vs IGNORANCE SUPERSTITION ,and FEAR"??? That's what your profile says. I assumed that readers of my comment would know that "innocent until proven guilty" is short for "PRESUMED innocent until proven guilty." Of course I didn't KNOW that he was innocent, but I presumed so until he'd been proven guilty before a jury of his peers. Or until he admitted it. Now he has admitted it. How can someone who claims to be focused on "science, logic, and common sense" vs. "ignorance, superstition, and fear" be so logically silly? Do you NOT understand the importance of the "innocent until proven guilty" concept? If defending that great American tradition is "sick" then call me "sick." If what you are doing is called "science, logic, and common sense" then I want nothing to do with those things. Of course my point of view is not "sick" and the one you presented is neither "scientific," "logical," nor consistent with "common sense." At least the blog author admits that he is "jaded" and is prepared to allow any of the accused who turn out to be not guilty to come on here and defend themselves.

I don't think there is any law against being a member of more than one political party. For example, you could be a member of the Libertarian Party and of the Republican Party. You can only vote once, but you can be a member of more than one party.

This is a distressing story. This kind of thing is among the reasons why I always vote for smaller national government whenever I can. I think we need to spend about 10+ years repealing laws and regulations instead of creating new ones.

Hello Frank, What have I said that is Naive? I have not denied that some Muslims have killed Christians (and non-Christians, including other Muslims, as well.) And what do the Germans in the 1930s and what they thought have to do with anything? I can only assume when you refer to "a wolf in sheep's skin" you are suggesting that a radical Muslim could masquerade as a moderate Muslim. Of course they could. What does that have to do with anything that I have said? A crazy violent person could masquerade as a Christian as well. I don't see any valid point to your comment at all. He basically asserts that this is a manufactured controversy.
