For good measure, Logan's run, Water world and Karate Kid have been seen, but probs aren't cult hits.

Okay, I know I need to watch:
Terminator 1-2, pulp fiction, er, blade runner, Judge dredd, robo cop, 5th element, shiiiiiiiiit. Venerable dreadnoughts of the comment sections, any other stuff to add to the list?

Thinking it's star wars, wracking the brain for lines/quotes.

Agreed, let's leave politics outta this :) Just wanted to highlight that the power has potential to be abused etc.
I can deal with arachnids easily, those guys are cute in their own way, plus checking up on the ones I relocate is kinda nice. The flight patterns of insects is usually what freaks me out. Bees are like the only exception. Aussie honey bees are placid as fuck and only attack when you actively go out to piss them off

Campbell Newman. Your argument is invalid -nah not really, but majorities can abuse the power surrendered unto them. Which is kinda sad, as the whole point of placing people/groups of people in power/dominance over us is I suppose a trust thing. We let others make the choice on behalf of us, provided it's not one that is directly detrimental to us.
From what I gather from limited life experience, leadership is an alleviation of responsibility in that sense that (as was said above) we surrender some freedoms in exchange for certainty in things. Take driving for instance- If it wasn't required by law to take some proficiency testing for handling a car, how many more people do you think would die in MVAs by using their freedom to not take driving lessons?
There aren't many pure white or pure black issues these days, everything is a smudgy grey. As James said above, Compromise is a basis for ethics and I agree on that, but I'd add that compassion and empathy need to play a role in that as well. Take Kantian ethics- to violate it, one simply needs to treat humans as tools rather than independently functioning organisms which suggests to me a lack of compassion more than anything.
RE: Everyone's chat about Survival of the fittest- It's cute and I got a warm fuzzy feeling as I love the topic of evolution, etc. Humanity doesn't really follow Natural selection/ Descent w/ modification in the physical sense anymore. We're a domesticated species ;) who change the surroundings to suit us rather than change ourselves to suit the environment. Hell, we're also an equilibrium species in that we invest a metric shittonne or two of time into raising one-three offspring (usually, there are always exceptions) so we can guarantee that most offspring will survive until sexual maturity.
What I do believe though is that we've got a bit of a lag effect happening where our minds are advancing faster than our bodies, and where our technology is vastly outstripping the minds of the vast majority of the population. Will we catch up? Maybe. Humans at this point in time are rather violent, negative creatures which again probably ties into the power thing- "Obey me as I can inflict this thing called 'pain' on you" but hopefully there'll not be a need for violence in our future and we can solve everything from border disputes to temper tantrums without resorting to violence of a sort.
As for the bit said somewhere about us all learning stuff about each other- I don't see myself as an inherently good or bad, but I try to be nice, friendly, decent etc within reason. Everyone gets a baseline level of trust, politeness and tolerance. It's up to the other person to increase those.
Another thing about me: I'm absolutely petrified of most insects (especially wasps and moths, for some reason).

I saw something in the garage yesterday that looks like a compressor, so I'll investigate this weekend. From an attempt using a propellant tube, I think airbrushes are gonna need a bit of getting used to. The only reason I'm super keen is to paint something besides a dedicated gaming miniature. Haven't used a compressor as yet- university stuffs has gotten in the way of acquiring, set-up, practice etc.
Elfen Lied was pretty good for an anime (though for those viewing at home, it's MA15+ for a reason). The fight between Lucy and Nana (Diclonius #7) was pretty intense, if short-lived.
Leaks for Warhams: Age of Sigmar are a thing now, so I'm kinda psyched to see if WHFB gets a price drop and better rules.

All I'm gonna say is that Vallejo makes a nice deep metallic blue in for their airbrush paints :D and that the kit comes with props- natural oil, the Major, Batou, that girl who kept a tachikoma as a pet for a day and so on. Should be epic to build.
I kinda hope 9th is a nicer cheap game, but when it's $62 AUD for a tech priest dominus and $70 for 5 assault mans I remain skeptical. *Shrugs* It's be nice to see where Bretonnia heads with the middle ages meets french costume party theme. As long as the rules aren't pricey, I might advance into the new world. If not, eh, contingency plans.
