KATU - Portland, OR : Effigy of Obama found hanging on from tree at George Fox | KATU.com - Portland, Oregon | Local

I DON'T GET IT! It seems to me like political correctness run amok. Given the things that have been said about Mrs Palin and her family in the last few weeks, this barely rises to the level of a personal attack. Has anyone take the time to determine if this is true; was he rejected from this scholarship program? This was a childish act but no big deal. I think this story below is much more damaging to GFU and the Quakers than this silly incident It's not like there was a noose. It wasn't even funny or clever. There is so much that is true about this man to mock that this "effigy" was a waste of effort in my view. http://www.ajc.com/living/content/printedition/20... To the press and GFU: Please ask yourselves, Would the reaction would have been the same if this had been done with a picture of a conservative or a Caucasian.

I don't believe that it is government's job to hold our hands. What's next, banning fatty foods, Oh wait, they are doing that! I had a city of Portland inspector admit that if everybody pulled the permits they were supposed to , the system would shut down. For crying out loud, I am supposed to pull a permit to change a light switch in my commercial building! You have to draw the line somewhere. I say that as long as you're not increasing your roof line (footprint) permits should be abandoned and inspections optional. The dollar figure in this ballot measure provides some measure of scope to this Byzantine permit process. Eventually, the Mortgage and Insurance companies will start holding homeowners accountable for non-complying or non- inspected work by either refusing to lend/insure or by charging a higher rate. So be it. Get the D#@% government out of my life!
