Gaming would have survived after the crash because PC gaming was still there.
Yet PC gaming never was a main stream as console gaming during that time. Mainly because it cost too much for everyone to have one. This is like saying MTV in the 80's had no affect on music. Mainly because everything that came before it was still there. MTV like Nintendo made everyone notice this alternative culture. MTV help push Metal, Grunge, and Gangsta Rap. Like Nintendo help push gaming by showcasing japanese developers. All that lead to the success of the Playstation, and now back to the American made Xbox. During the days of the NES where were these huge successful PC games? That were going to help restart the console gaming industry. I'm sorry but your lying to yourself if you believe Nintendo is not important to the state of gaming. Nintendo is to MTV in the 80's as Mario is to Michael Jackson during the same time.
