His name IS Fox McCloud, but the way I've always seen it, when someone addresses Fox directly, they just call him Fox.

However, when someone is addressing the whole team, they address them as the Starfox, as that is the name of the team.

Team Address examples:
"We need your help, Starfox! Andross has declared war!"
"Can't let you do that, Starfox!"
"Who are you guys?!" "We're Starfox!"

Fox Address examples:
"You'll be with your dad soon, Fox."
"Oh, I've been saved by Fox, how swell."
"Get the guy behind me, Fox!"

Coming back to this conversation to say this after all this time is rather pointless, but it still kinda bugged me. So, got some closure, moving on.
