The spy would be -useless- without cloaking and magical paper-face disguises. It's hard to have an objective-oriented class-based game without a base builder and/or some kind of passive defense system. The sentries work just fine within the game, even if they are stretching the tech a little. Given this is clearly a 1950s in which the technological experimentation of World War II continued in the open by corporations, I'd say it's not completely unreasonable.
