Have You Met Ted - The How I Met Your Mother Blog : Season 5, Episode 3: Robin 101 Preview

This episode was probably the weakest comedy-wise, but also the strongest character-wise. I don't have time to go into too much detail, but it invariably shows the relationships between all of the characters VERY well. I might also add that it holds out a bit of hope for Ted and Robin (though that's mostly just me) in that it shows how much he really cares for not just her, but really anyone that he comes in contact with that shows a modicum of respect in return. Not to mention, ahem, this shows Robin in Ted's class. Ya, ya, relax....I don't need the nay-sayers....I just want to fantasize for a minute. In any case this episode really does a wonderful job of bringing the dynamics between all of the characters together. We normally only see the relationship between 2 or 3 characters, but I think this one is right up there with Slapsgiving in regard to how everyone is brought together and work through a problem within the group. Just a thought, Jason

Have You Met Ted - The How I Met Your Mother Blog : Casting News: Rachel Bilson to Join How I Met Your Mother

The musical business as I've heard it via online rags is that the ending of the episode will be be a musical number with NPH, not the entire show. Doubtful that she's the mother obviously..... I like her too, but I'd like to see a better actress as the mother.

Have You Met Ted - The How I Met Your Mother Blog : Season 5, Episode 2: Double Date Discussion

Anything involving love and friendship is rarely logical, beit real life or on TV. Plus in your examples, either Barney or Kelso, both are displaying a character on the outside, while real feelings are held tight to their chests. Kelso, despite his outward disdain for his wife still showed he loved her every now and again. Barney's done the same. And despite Barney's depravity, if it was really important, Barney would do almost anything for his friends.

I'm pretty sure JD's right. I knew it was Mozart, but it definitely sounded like cats meowing...which to me would make more sense considering she was such a cat person.

Two things before I watch Transformers 2 (which I have no doubt will completely suck, but I plan on watching it about 5 or 6 beers in, so that will make it better): 1. "I don’t think it’s in Robin’s character to actually care." I do. This is one of the few times we disagree JD. I think it's in Robin's character to care simply because she's aware that she's definitely in a relationship. Barney's still trying to deny it, even though he knows he is....thus all of his "she's ok with it" comments. The reason I think it's in Robin's character to care is that though she may be the "whatever" character much like Barney when outside of a relationship, she's quite serious when inside a relationship. The talks that she and Ted had when inside the relationship definitely had a level of introspection and seriousness to them....and even semi-outside the relationship (Slapsgiving). 2. I don't think it's so much Ted's "sensitivity" that gets him the girls that he's gotten so far on the show (though that's a part of it). I think it's more his creativity than anything, simply because not only is he creating these scenarios that not many other men would think of, but those same scenarios include a certain level of sensitivity in that he would take the time to think of them in the first place. That's all for now. I think I've got more rolling around in my brain for later though. Also, good discussion concerning Lindsay Sloane.....couldn't have put it better myself.

Part of me wants to agree....and part disagrees. I too always love to see the group more involved with Ted, but at the same time, you've got one married couple and one relationship. It's kind of normal for the single guy to break off and start to feel a bit out of the norm compared to the rest of the group. We certainly already saw that when Ted was with Robin and Marshall with Lily....Barney kind of broke-off and was doing his own thing. I mean I love seeing the group together and all, but it's not really logical for him to want to be around two couples. At least not at the beginning. I think within an episode or two he'll be coming back to them looking for advice or help. That's kind of the way Ted does things.....he thinks about things to much, realizes that he can't solve them, then immediately comes to the group to figure them out.

Loved the episode....Loved it Loved it. JD pretty much hit the nail on the head as far as my feelings on it. As for your prediction that the girl in the fantasy shaking her head at Ted is the Mother....well that would be absolutely wonderful. After watching the episode with my friend Hannah (who is an actress) we both decided that that moment was the best of the episode (that and "Whip for love!") simply because of the timing between her and Ted. It was perfect. Could not have been done any better. If that would be an indication of how their relationship would be acted out, I would be more than pleased to see her as the mother.

Have You Met Ted - The How I Met Your Mother Blog : How I Met Your Mother is the Best Comedy on Television (Maybe)

Entourage I used to like (and I still love Piven), but it's a parody of itself now. I've seen at least 3 skits involving Entourage in the last month or two, and I was laughing, until I realized the skits could actually be episodes. The Office - you're right, past it's prime, not as good as HIMYM 30 Rock - Love Baldwin....always hilarious, but doesn't have the same kind of plot development Weeds - It's good, but it's not amazing. Flight of the Conchords - never really got into it. Family Guy - Also has become somewhat of a parody of itself....though the Star Trek episode was f'in hilarious...and once again, no plot development. HIMYM deserves it.

There is no The End. It's a totally subjective argument. She's a horrible person in your eyes. That doesn't make her a horrible person in Ted's eyes. And as far as I'm concerned, the one who got left at the altar has the last word on that.....No offense, but I'm going to go with the character's opinion of her over yours.
